Yes, I grasped that from the stated summary of the incident, but what I was blanking on was the exact nature of the familial relationships involved. The compounding confusion here has now motivated me to google the facts, and I see that Mary Trump’s dad is in fact Donald Trump’s older brother, the late Fred Trump Jr. (as opposed to their younger brother Robert whom young Donald was picking on). So yeah, the incident involved sibling conflict rather than abusive adult behavior, but I’m still not sure it’s a good choice of political mockery material. ---

The point isn’t to mock him for having potatoes dumped on his head by his older brother, nor even to ridicule him for picking on his younger brother, as these are examples of normal child behavior. The point is that he is such a snowflake that even the mention of this small childhood embarrassment is enough to disable him in a debate. Whether that’s true or not remains to be seen. Nor would testing it likely be good debate strategy. But, the suggestion is to needle Trump and show him to be a crybaby, not reveal family secrets or something. ---

While I don’t think the mashed potato thing is a good idea, I think Mary Trump is right that other candidates (both Republicans _and_ Democrats) need to quit walking on eggshells around Trump and start regularly using terms like loser, twice impeached, failure, sexual predator, insurrectionist, etc. Repeat them like Ron DeSantis repeats the word “woke” five times in a sentence. Not only will it irritate the hell out of Trump, it may (yeah, I know, it’s a long shot) get some of his supporters to start reconsidering. ---
