Meadows, more than any other single person, has the knowledge to sink Trump. He can provide copious evidence of Trump’s _ **intent** _ (probably in both the insurrection/election interference and the documents cases). Holding one’s breath seems justified, here. ---

I can understand backing a crazy idiot, if you think you can control them, if they’re likely going to be in office for several terms. And that explains why they didn’t look too closely at Santos when he first ran for office. But now? The guy’s not just a lame duck, he’s a quadruple amputee duck. He’s got essentially zero chance at re-election, and a pretty good chance of actually being in jail in the not so distant future. Why waste money on him _now?_ ---

I agree with your whole post, but didn’t what to quote the whole thing. I agree that the the number of people who would/could invest in him prior to the truth coming out would have expected far more than a single term, especially in the current political climate. But it was baffling, exactly as said, as to why they’d keep throwing good money after bad… But the nasty suspicious part of my mind says either 1) they’re afraid he’ll incriminate them in some way or 2) the chaos, disorder and distrust was ALWAYS the point. To further undermine trust in our political system. At which point, keeping him up defending himself, and further discrediting everything is a good investment! And we have plenty of enemies that would love that, who would also find a few million to be reasonably cheap for the results. ---

You don’t know that it was politics that made people want to bail him out. It’s a safe assumption but it could be anyone for any reason. Maybe a couple of wealthy friends. It’s not like it’s costing them anything unless he flees the country. ---

Trump says (on his imitation twitter) that he has been summoned to appear at the Federal courthouse in Miami on Tuesday at 3 pm. This was reported on CNN about 40 minutes ago. CNN are reporting that he is charged with 7 counts in the classified documents case. Apparently he is pre-empting the DOJ announcement? I’m watching a video of the reporting on YouTube. Edited to add: on a search it appears most major US media are reporting the indictment, including NY Times and NBC News and others. Edited again: the clock on the CNN wall says 8:03 pm (EDT) so longer ago than I thought. ---
