Interesting, the _Misfits of Science_ were essentially mutants. Maybe he was watching the show on VHS in Bedminster and decided to rant about them too. I mean, Herschel Walker pretty much did the same thing, ranting about werewolves and vampires. ---

Given this admission, “It’s amazing how strongly people feel about that. I talk about cutting taxes, people go like that, I talk about transgender everybody goes crazy. Five years ago you didn’t know what the hell it was” I’ve got a pretty good guess who the mutants are in this dog- ~~whistle~~ klaxon. ---

Yeah, I’m not baffled at all by this. It’s unclear whether Trump’s cultists will immediately make the intended connection, but it’s obvious to me that in Trump’s mind this is another hostile reference to gender nonconformists. Fingers crossed it doesn’t catch on. ---
