Another consideration about Russia fronting him the bond money is the need to do it in dollars, not rubles, and hide the transaction from keen-eyed investigators looking for it. Just how much foreign exchange do they have banked? No doubt Putin, for one, has a fortune socked away in countries outside Russia, but how much of that is liquid enough, and can be laundered fast enough, to bail Trump out? ---

Chubb has an office in Moscow. I don’t see any reason why the Moscow office couldn’t make an inter-company transfer to the Zürich headquarters, which could then make an inter-company transfer to the U.S. headquarters in New Jersey. ---

Alina Habba was asked recently about possible funding for the bond from Saudi or Russia and refused to “divulge strategy.” Should have been an easy “no,” no? I believe the MAGA waters are being tested to see just how much support this would cost him. As for Russian ROI, having a compliant US president could save them tens, maybe even _hundreds_ of billions in Ukraine alone. ---

I don’t know, it seems the Simpsons were pretty prescient, only nobody took them seriously in that regard. And then there is Lou Reed, who not only wrote _[Dirt](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1E06cWL-cw)_ in the '70s, a song that must refer to Trump if you listen to the lyrics, but he also wrote _Sick of You_ in **1989** (OK, technically not the '90s), which includes this fourth verse that has me scratching my head: They ordained the Trumps and then he got the mumps And died being treated at Mt. Sinai And my best friend Bill died from a poison pill Some wired doctor prescribed for stress My arms and legs are shrunk, the food all has lumps They discovered some animal no one’s ever seen It was an inside trader eating a rubber tire After running over Rudy Giuliani They say the President’s dead, no one can find his head It’s been missing now for weeks But no one noticed it, he had seemed so fit I’m sick of it I’m sick of you ---

I’m pretty sure I heard somewhere that the writer who came up with the Simpsons’ “President trump” gag did so by thinking of the public figure of the time who would be the most ridiculous, unlikely choice to ever become President. So it’s more an example of ‘holy beejezus truth is stranger than fiction’ than it is of ‘The Simpsons is prescient!’. Those Lou Reed lyrics are eerily Nostradamic, though. ---
