Once he’s completed his sentence it’s an entirely different matter. Regarding voting, if he is sentenced before the upcoming election, he won’t be able to vote until the full term of the sentence is completed, meaning any and all of the following as applicable: the prison sentence, house arrest, parole and probation after completing any prison time. Only after that can TFG appeal to DeSantis to have his voting rights restored in Florida. It’s not a pardon, the conviction stands, it’s the governor of Florida restoring the right to vote, TFG remains a convicted felon. It’s just that Florida is one of the few states that effectively permanently takes away the right to vote by requiring a personal appeal to the governor to restore it. Most states only require felons to complete either the full term or incarceration or incarceration and parole, at which point the right to vote is automatically restored. ---

Florida law says “use the rules in the state he was convicted in.”. New York says you can’t vote if you are in prison; other than that, you’re good to go. Salem Media was only one of the defendants in the lawsuit. D’Souza and a couple other people who made the film are also defendants. So Salem Media settling does not settle the entire case. This is typical 7-year-old Trump here. It’s the political equivalent of the “I’m not touching you” game that little kids and trolls sometimes play. He initiated it, he allowed it at his rallies without speaking against it, @Euphonious_Polemic’s cite proves he supported it actively, but he never actually said the words, so no one is allowed to hold him responsible for it. And anyone who tries to hold him to it is just being **UNFAIR**! He’s mentally and emotionally stunted and has been his entire life. Let’s never forget that. While typing up this post it occurred to me, and this point is probably been made elsewhere, that he could have treated this like a John McCain moment. That Town Hall I think it was in 2008? When McCain took a question from an audience member who tried to claim Obama wasn’t American and was actually a Muslim or something like that, and McCain shut it down in front of everyone? Trump could have done something like that and would be a much better ethical foundations to make these sorts of claims today. As it is he’s a venal, lying bastard with no principles so of course he’s going to jump on the first thing that he thinks helps him without considering the broader consequences.
