At the end of PBS’ “news quiz” show, _Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me_ host Peter Segel asks the celebrity contestants to come up with a final line on a current topic (which he suggests). It’s a throwaway bit, usually not all that great. But last week’s edition cracked me up. Segel asked the contestants to suggest what next week’s news from the Paris Olympics might be, and one of them suggested J.D. Vance shows you how to have sex with a cardboard bed. ---

Also worth noting that the guest in the “Not My Job” segment was Anthony Fauci. It was nice to hear a big group of people cheering for him, which I suppose isn’t surprising given that it was an NPR audience. But someone should tell Trump. ---

That was mentioned on CNN. Apparently Trump Truthed that Biden will crash the Democratic convention in order to take back the Democratic nomination. Where he got that idea, I cannot even guess. But I have seen commentary on right-wing message boards that speculates that Biden resents being pushed out, and wants to regain the candidacy, so maybe Trump got it from such places. CNN made no mention of an interview with Elon Musk, however. Still, I’ll add another “I like it!” to “The Melon and the Felon” match-up. Well done! ---

For decades he’s apparently subscribed to this bizarre misinterpretation of the power of positive thinking where if you believe hard enough, reality will warp itself to fit your desires. He’d much rather face Biden, so he’s just acting like that’s what’s going to happen. It’s not the first time he’s done something like this, but his behavior has been particular divorced from reality lately. ---
