It’s the small cuts, the little wounds, that I hope he feels the most deeply. Will this amount to anything? I don’t know. I just went to see if that 338,000 figure had been updated (it has: [over 405,000 in the 24 hours after the debate](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/taylor-swift-kamala-harris-endorsement-vote-gov/)!), and I found this gem from JD Vance, reported by Fox News on Wednesday: > “We admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans, whether they like her music or are fans of hers or not, are going to be **influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans** ,” Vance said. (Emphasis mine.) Is it possible that he and his campaign can be so _totally_ unself-aware as to describe _her_ like that? ---

Yes, it’s not only possibly but quite certain that the Unshaven One has considerably less self-awareness than the feline brood of childless cat ladies. It’s particularly ironic because Taylor Swift exemplifies exactly the hard work, determination, and self-made success that Republicans are always yammering about. The tour guide on our river cruise didn’t mock Trump’s building (though I could tell he really wanted to), but he mentioned that the penthouse was on the market for $30 million, and then proceeded to mention throughout the tour how the penthouses on many of the other buildings in the Loop had recently sold for much smaller amounts. I think the most expensive one he mentioned sold for $12 million. The unspoken implication being that Trump can’t find a buyer for his penthouse because it’s ridiculously overpriced and nobody wants to spend that much money to be associated with him. ---
