A jury award on account of physical injury is typically tax free. Punitive damages are generally taxable. Defamation would probably (Not a Tax Lawyer) be taxable. ---

It’s funny that Pence is using high-falutin’ language addressing a college of political science. His clear intent is that none of the rubes who tried to string him up, or those who still favor those folks, will understand anything of what Pence just said. He’s clearly signaling to the surviving rump of traditional Rs who’re now hiding under their covers hoping not to be found by the ravening MAGA horde, that if _he_ was selected as the R nominee, things would return to pre-populist R-normal. Methinks there’s nowhere near enough traditional Rs left in the Reactionary Wacko Traitor party for his gambit to succeed. But I’m pretty sure that’s what he’s doing. ---

I will admit to the same voting behavior. However, I do not feel at all conflicted about it. I have never, in all my years of voting, liked or agreed the republican platform. Even when they actually had a platform and policies; I felt their goals were destructive. Even a decent upstanding republican believed in things that I think are antithetical to the needs of the majority of the people. Just sayin’ ---
