I know that for decades now it’s been a common practice for right wing organizations to pump up the supposed popularity of right wing books by buying them in bulk (and dumping them unread). No reason they can’t do the same with a movie, it’s not like they’d have to _watch_ it. ---

Remember when FIFA produced a movie about how awesome and TOTALLY not corrupt they were and it grossed less than a thousand bucks in its opening weekend? I’ll give it this much credit: it wouldn’t be the first vanity film project intended to repair or burnish a damaged public image, and it probably isn’t even the worst of them. But it sure does take an incredible amount of arrogance to think it would appeal even to true believers. Something, something “all the people all the time” and so forth ---
