There is also that, “the respect your hosts” piece of that is simply not how they roll. They don’t respect anyone. Hell, they seem to revel in being _disrespectful_ with gleeful intent. ---

I’m with @Kimstu on this, I think the cows stepping out of the taxi is just a way to portray the original metaphor literally (and hence the humor), and not to conflate it with “the chickens coming home to roost”. But it’s really close to the current situation, and it may have been selected because of the name given in the cartoon. Or it may have been a huge coincidence - they do happen! ---
