Not sure if it’s been covered here, but the trump admin has proposed a [$1.5 trillion military budget for 2027](https://news.sky.com/story/trump-proposes-historic-1-5trn-defence-budget-13527774), a figure which would equate to $2,000 _additional_ spending per American adult. And as we all know, military spending must always be rubber stamped, because otherwise you love the terrorists and don’t care about our brave servicemen or something. But dont worry: they have said that massive cuts in domestic spending will (somehow) cover the expense. Winning! ---

On the Josh Marshall podcast this week, he talks about how this “we need to cut healthcare/daycare funding to pay for military spending” talk is bullshit anyway. You only have to balance the budget on recurring spending. Unless Trump is planning on getting the US into one war after another until the end of his term, Congress can approve the military spending as a one time expense without having to cut somewhere else. ---
