Without a 2/3s majority in the Senate an impeachment won’t matter and that won’t happen this cycle no matter how big the blue wave. At best there’d be a trial which is better than the last (two) time around. ---

Twenty of them are for end-of-term elections. The other two (FL and OH) are because they were vacated during the past year or two and are currently being held by appointees. But the law in those states apparently requires them being put to the vote at the next general election. ---

Not just the law of the states - the 17th Amendment requires that Senate seats be filled by election at the next federal election to fill uncompleted terms, though the states can specify a way to fill the vacancy until that election happens. ---

Probably covered in the political forum - Vice President Bearded (Hard) Couch Fucker and Jared Likely-More-Than-Hung-Enough-For-Ivanka-to-Marry Kushner are locking horns over how to move forward in upcoming negotiations with the Iranians. A manipulated voting system that rewards slight relative majorities with constitution changing powers is a double edged sword. I won’t say more for fear of jinxing it. Putin has not spoken his last word yet. A democratic country where only three parties, one very far right (Tisza), one extremely far right (Mi Hazánk Mozgalom), and one far out fascist right (Fidesz-KDNP) get to be represented in parliament and has me hoping for the first one to win because the alternatives are hell is not the place where I want to be. I wonder where we will be in four years. Once upon a time Orbán also looked like a nice guy. ---
