I used to at least _consider_ Republicans’ arguments. They have proven to virtually _always_ be wrong. And, since the nomination of Mr. Potato Head, they have shown that they are, in fact, fascists. They’ve been getting worse and worse since Newt Gingrich and his Contract on America\*.\* I will _never_ vote for a Republican until they all become Democratic Socialists. \* Yes, I know. ---

As I see it, the first is because the economy is a very large and complicated self-organizing system that can’t really be controlled very well by the government even when it’s designed to be (and command economies seldom worked well either). And the President isn’t even the entire government (not that Trump ever got that memo). _But,_ Trump is demonstrating the old principle that it’s much easier to destroy than it is to create or preserve. There’s a pretty limited amount a President can do to make the economy _better,_ but he can certainly make a good try at burning it all down. ---
