A pre-Bat Out of Hell Meat Loaf sang lead on a few songs on one of his early albums. I used to like that one. The only thing Nuge-related I can still enjoy these days is Motorhead’s cover of Cat Scratch Fever, because it’s a better performance all over and Lemmy (RIP) changed the lyrics to make it even filthier. In 1968, Nugent was with a band called the Amboy Dukes. They had one hit single, “Journey to the Center of The Mind,” which made it to #16 on the Billboard chart. I actually have the album. I’m sorry to say that “Journey” was a damn good rockin’ single, a great example of what I would call a “psychedelic relic” when I played it on the radio. I haven’t listened to the album in more than 50 years, so I don’t recall what the rest of it sounded like. ---

When I was in Michigan a song by Nugent was played locally by Nugent. I think the title was something like “Fred Bear” Not sure if the surname is correctly spelled. I’d never heard of the guy but I guess he was well known in the hunting community forbeing an expert bow maker. Nugent was, at the time, an avid hunter, saying there was no reason a hunter couldn’t have a pony tail. ---

I live near a VA outpatient health facility. Today I was walking through it’s parking lot - It’s a shortcut from the park to the beer store - and I saw a Jeep that was festooned with Trump stickers pulling out of the employee parking section. I wondered just how he was feeling about the consequences of his vote. ---

I’d love to attend a town meeting and have some harsh words for my congressman, but this will never happen in the district in which I live. Our congressman, who was up to his eyeballs in the insurrection, never has town meetings, never responds to phone calls or emails, and has a lackey respond to questions from the press. After six terms of doing nothing for his constituents, he was re-elected anyway, by about 1.5%, and doesn’t give a sh-t about anyone who voted for his opponent.
