Interesting showdown. Having Leo on board might help when it eventually gets to SCOTUS, but Trump will ignore any lower court, just like he is on the ICE kidnappings. Will be interesting to see if Trump goes all Andy Jackson on SCOTUS. ---

I wondered if someone was going to go there. Some years ago when Congress gave Bill Clinton a line item veto, the Supreme Court struck it down on the grounds that Congress could not unilaterally give away it’s own enumerated powers under the constitution. Since the court has recently struck down Chevron deference on the same grounds, I think there might be a case to be made here. ---

On the other hand, the visibility the Dinner gave to journalism as a whole was probably a good thing. We’re probably getting into a field that is something other than Trump Schadenfreude, but I honestly don’t remember hearing about the WH Correspondent’s dinner until the Bush II administration. Was it well known among political junkies before then? ---

Just saw this posted on Daily Kos. Trump has lost The Villages. That’s pretty impressive. I first read about The Villages in Dave Bary’s book about Florida. In those pre-Trump days the gist of it was that it was a very pleasant retirement community for folks like him, with good music, good food, good company, gettin’ around in golf carts, and lots of senior sex on the side. It was also pretty conservative, but he wrote about a couple of black women who were considering buying a home there.
