A Person Born in the 19th Century Is Still With Us

Was it Einstein who proved that time slows down at extremely high latitudes?

I forget where I read it, but an article said that these people who live an enormous life span don’t smoke less, eat healthier, drink less, exercise more, or anything of the like different that the average population. It’s something genetic that makes them immune from cancer, heart disease, or dementia that kills everyone else in their 70s-90s. They literally just live until their bodies wear out.

I bet you filled that time with glorious tales of how brightly the White House burned and just how polite all of you were in allowing us to preserve some of the art before torching the place.

Or you learned about something relevant to your own national history like beavers or Je me souviens something or other or whatever.

Yes, up here the war of 1812 is called “World War 0” and we kicked your butt.

I love it.

Of course I also love junk food, so I’m screwed.

Do any of these supercentarians have any great insights in the meaning of life? I’m guessing :“no”. Reminds me of a story I read in a long-ago Wall Street Journal: A cub reporter was interviewing a 100 year old man (he was a veteran of the Spanish-American War). The reported thought-man-what stories this guy can tell! Instead, all the old geezer wanted to talk about was how he always saved string (he had a huge string ball).

I am reminded of this zombie thread…(wayyyyy back when my username was “Smug.”)
.

Heh. I thought that I screwed up my math and you were making fun of me.

It just seems that way, with those long winters and not much to do.

And now there is only 2 left from the 19th century. (3 if you count 1900)

Threads like this remind me of my uncle {my mother’s brother}who was born in June {he would have been 116 next Tuesday} 1899 who was always a bit miffed over my father’s birthdate {May 1900} and the fact that they were born in different centuries.

Hey, now you’ve got a much better chance of inheriting the earth. Smugness doesn’t do it.
