Window man #2 just left - this guy is an installer, and a good ol’ boy at that. He’s a contractor that works with Lowe’s. He’ll pass the numbers back to Lowe’s, and if that’s who we go with, we’ll order our windows, then he’ll call to set up an installation day. I’m sure this will be the cheapest alternative, but we shall see.
Now, what should I make for dinner? I’m thinking I should make my sweetie take me out. 😉

Oh, I forgot to brag. I got an award - a freebie day off. It was granted because I supposedly did such a wonderful job being trained. :rolleyes:
Now, I’m not one to shun an award, but this is the second time that I got something (first time it was cash) for just doing what I was supposed to do. And quite frankly, this truly wasn’t merited. I took over a year to do what should have taken maybe 3 or 4 months. Part of it wasn’t my fault - I had a lot of serious hardware and software issues for a while there. But part of it was knowing that my clearance was going to take forever, so there was no urgency. I was an occasional slacker.
And now I’ve got a day to be a legal slacker. What a racket!
Lest you worry that I developed bad habits, since I’ve completed training and moved into my real job, I’vd been going gangbusters. Tomorrow, I’m meeting with my boss to make sure I’m moving in the direction she had in mind, but I think she’ll be properly impressed. So there’s that.

Okay. I know I’ve been remiss in not expressing my sympathy for the various owies reported here, so I’m going to go back and read the entire thread from the beginning.
Anyway;
a.) I’ve said what needs to be said re: tootsie rolls. Eat them at your own risk. You’ve been warned.
b.) Is your neck all better **Lissla**? I hope so.
c.) The plural of platypus is platypuses.
d.) **Rue** ’s a big ol poopy-head for not meeting up with **Swampy**.
e.) You are most definitely not chopped liver **Ellen** , you are a strawberry milk shake, with real ice cream. And I hope you’re all well now too.
f.) Hope **VunderVife** is feeling better, too.
g.) **Taters** , it sounds like you pinched a nerve in your spine. I used to do that all the time. If so, I would suggest you go to a reputable bone cracker, and have things moved back where they belong and ask him about exercises to strengthen your lower back. Your have my sympathy, for sure.
h.) Welcome **Zelie** , It still says _Guest_ under your name. I mention this because you said you joined, so it should say _Member_. Iffen you thought you joined up, you might want to e-mail a mod or sumptin.
i.) Did I ever tell you about when The GirlChild worked for the Haagen Dazs distributor? We were sure glad we had that big extra freezer out back.
ii.) J.) And now **Draelin** ’s sick? Sheesh! Maybe it’s a good thing I don’t post in here more than I do. This place is dangerous! Speaking of which; where is **DangerGene** this week?
iii.) K.) So I guess **Wile E.** is having her surgery today. I hope she’s going be peachy keen soon too.

I have no idea what she wanted. It was the [Classmates.com](http://Classmates.com) equivalent of a Post-it Note on your car winshield saying, “Hi - I stopped by.” So I sent her one asking her what’s up, how’s life, and a nicely worded what the hell do you want.

But, but, what’s to worry **Sean**? It’s a good thing! I mean if being sponge-worthy is good, ala Seinfeld, imagine how spiffy you have to be to be spawn-worthy! Moving doth blow tho’-- packing boxes but never getting them filled is my number one bad dream.
**Bumba** , your e-mail suggestion is a thing of beauty. I actually had to wipe away a little tear. And then I really started to cry because I couldn’t do it. Or well, I _could_, but then Ashes would be in hot water and that’s a big mess.
I dunno what’s the deal with our technology guy except he’s also in charge of forty jillion other things too, all of which yell louder than computers. It doesn’t excuse the fact that we’re so backwards that we’ve actually been given memos to turn our phone’s ringer off. We were all given phones a few years back to increase communication, reduce interruptions of lectures, and increase safety they said. Now we’re supposed to pop out of our holes like gophers, to see if there’s trouble, every few minutes. Because ringing phones interrupt your class, but leaving it repeatedly doesn’t.
That one made my eyes roll back, but not in a good way, lemmee tell ya.
Off to get my hair cut. Which reminds me, I’m totally going to buy me some \*\*Bumba \*\* soap tonight. If I remember and can find the website, because last time I got distracted by the house one which led to my present smelly soap-less state. If I forget, you all smack me upside the head with a mackeral (smackeral?). You’ll know if I didn’t because I won’t be whining about why my order isn’t here, even though I ordered it a whole twelve hours ago.

Thanks **Bumbazine** , i know i am not a real member yet. But you see i’m Scottish and when the sign-up page said i could have a month free before paying anything the old genetic urges came to the fore. I shall be a proper doper soon.
In other news, we have had two bits of eyecandy sent to my work every day so it’s been very pleasant. Until they unplugged all my equipment and i had to work out how to plug it all back in again on my own. And i somehow ended up with a spare 2-prong plug which doesn’t really make sense cos UK sockets all need 3-prongs. I’m still trying to work that one out.
Still it gave me time to read the straight dope (for most of the morning actually) so it’s all good 🙂
**Ashes[sup]2[/sup]** you need to learn some IT buzzwords and throw them at the **IT Guy** while telling him you know exactly what is wrong with your puter. He’ll be puzzled by your diagnosis and the desire to prove you wrong will bug him all day and eventually he’ll make a special trip over to fix it. Try it. I promise it will work.

I, too, like the mass e-mail idea. Imagine the look on IT Guy’s face when his inbox fills up! :eek:
I had Chinese for lunch today, but got no fortune cookie. Is that legal? It was food-court Chinese. Never noticed that they didn’t have cookies until today, and I’ve been eating there for YEARS. I blame the MMP. Dinner was a BLT and 3 little figs. (I had my minimum daily requirement of chocolate at work today.)
That kitty litter cake is disturbing. That’s all I’m sayin’.
**Bumba** , glad there’s still no website - I was afraid I’d missed it. And I too need to order some soap.
Finally watched _Pillow Talk_ last night (it went with the book I was reading last week). Amusing, but different that I pictured it based on the book.
Glad everyone is better, returned (more or less) unscathed, etc.
I seem to have an excess of energy today. Actually got lots done at work and have prospects of getting stuff done at home tonight.
I’m starting to look for a laptop. Our execs at work have new HP tablets that look really cool, but it sounds like there are still growing pains to endure with those. I’m thinking about getting an Apple something or other laptop and then eventually replacing my desktop with another PC desktop. We’ll see…
Enough random stuff for now, I think. Off to do stuff.

c.) No. Sorry. The _propper_ plural for “platypus” is “Look! A platypus! And more over there!”
d.) The reasons for me being a “big ol poopy-head” are legion. If this is the one you want to latch on to I won’t stop you.

I’ve now taken to calling VunderWife “Hurricane Hurley”, a tribute to the _Lost_ character. Other peoples misfortune becomes our good luck.
You may recall how I went on a long rambling MMP post last year about the family joke of why she’s a hurricane magnet. All those storms last year savaging Flarduh, then making a screeching right hand turn towards Virginny? That still is a fact.
However. what has become apparent is that while the storms are still attracted to her, they some how either run out of gas or are deflected at the last minute, so other people get the brunt, and we get a little rain and wind.
Happened with Ophelia. She shifted east and will go out to sea around Kill Devil Hills, instead of coming up Currituck Sound nearly to Virginia Beach. We get some windy rain today, but not the predicted mess of a couple of days ago.
Either that, or the storms have figured out when I go to the store for disaster supplies, flip me the finger, and go elsewhere.

Don’t worry, **bobbio** , there’s another blob building out (down?) there so you and **vunderwife aka HH** get another shot at it.
Well, the granite countertops will be installed on Monday the 26th. I’ll have to take the day off cause it takes about ten hours to install them and Mr. Anachi used up all his leave time during his coronary issues. He’s gotta see if he can get the cooktop guy to come in and install the cooktop the next day and we also decided we’d get a plumber to do the sink hookup since it’s composit granite and Mr. Anachi doesn’t want to eff it up. I think I’m gonna get some “get out of cooking free” cards for that week. 😃

**gardentraveler** my husband is a Computer Person and we just bought a laptop. We got a Dell 6000 Inspiron. Since he knows computers and all, I’d say it’s a good one. I certainly have no complaints. Just thought I’d pass that on, in hopes it helps you!
**Bumba** dear thanks for the milkshake compliment–and I too am eager to try your soap! I love home-made soap, and in fact have purchased it from other online friends, as well as a woman I work with who makes it. (She strategically places it in the restrooms periodically to get us all hooked.)

I’m feeling annoyed today. Why, you ask? Because last night, I had a dream about the guy who broke my heart in college. We were right back in his dorm room, and my “conscious” mind was screaming at my nineteen-year-old self to just get out and never look back, and it all ended the same way, anyway.
But I have to say, if the way I’m remembering it in the dream is how he _actually_ kissed, I can’t believe I continued _wanting_ him to kiss me. _shudder_
