No, not even if you try to quote scripture at me. I know those scriptures, too. No one is saying we permanently forsake assembling together, and two or three can be gathered together virtually–online, on the phone, etc. If not, then every person who gets too sick to go to church has been sinning. ---

I feel like these kinds of discussions could use an acknowledgment that social distancing is really hard for a lot of us. It’s a necessary evil at this time, of course, and anger toward people endangering others is sometimes appropriate, or at least understandable. But quite honestly, the available substitutes for in-person communication kind of feel like the emotional equivalent of drinking water to try to fool your stomach into thinking you’re not hungry. Maybe some people are perfectly content with the current state of affairs; more power to them. But can we be a little less flippant, a little less dismissive of those who are mourning the loss of something that was meaningful to them? ---
