1. What age are the horses in the Kentucky Derby? 3 in the English and Irish Derbies, so I’ll go with 4 year olds. 1. What are the three races in the Triple Crown, in correct order? Preakness Stakes, Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes 1. What’s a gelding? A male horse that has been neutered. No good on the rest - but I spent 10 days in KY in 2003 (Henderson) and enjoy my racing. Managed a trip to Ellis Park while I was there. Nice to be able to take kids to the races, as in England. HK forbids it. ---

That annoys the hell out of me. Kentucky extends far beyond Owensboro and Bowling Green. ---

What was his name, and where was he born? Alben Barkley Born in Graves County. 1. How many counties does Kentucky have? 120, only Texas and Georgia have more. 1. There is only one Division I university in the state that UK has never played in basketball. Which one is it? Wow, tough! 1 - 3 yrs old I believe 2 - Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes and the Preakness - no idea of the order 3 - An elf-like creature that has been mostly exterminated by the Skeksis. Females have wings. 4 - Paul? 5 - 8 maybe 6 - 5 championships 7 - no clue, sorry! 8 - nope I’ve never been to Kentucky ---

The only answer I know is that Col. Sanders’ first name is Harland. But I’m Canadian city boy and know nothing about horses or US state politics. I don’t even know anyone who has ever been to Kentucky. I hear it’s nice, though. ---

I just missed Rebecca Gayheart in the grocery store the other day; her little town is right next to my little town. The cashier said she wasn’t looking very good, but that’s probably just the difference between grocery store looks and Hollywood set looks. I am a big fan of Ale-8; the only reason I don’t drink it more often is the calories. (There is Diet Ale-8, but I refuse to acknowledge its existence.) I guess I can add some questions, as a Kentucky boy: 1. Which popular Kentucky whiskey calls itself “Kentucky Whiskey” because it is not, in fact, bourbon? And why not? (Hint: Sadly, their Mint Julep mix provided the official mint juleps at Churchill Downs for last year’s Derby.) 2. How long is Makers Mark aged? 3. Who invented bourbon, and what was his day job? 4. Up until a vote a few years ago, Bourbon County was \_\_\_\_\_ while Christian County was \_\_\_\_\_\_. 5. Pronounce: Athens, Cairo, Versailles. 6. You’re in Liberty. Which direction would you want to go in to get to West Liberty? 7. Describe a Hot Brown. Where might you go to get a good one? 8. Western KY BBQ is unique for its use of what meat? ---
