Foley Artist. When I was a young’in (or more young’inish than I am now, anyway) I saw all those specials featuring people throwing themselves on mats, hitting celery wrapped with chamois with baseball bats, smashing glass, etc. in front of a microphone - and it was the coolest thing in the world. Nowadays I suspect it’s all done digitally, or _has_ all been done and is recorded. "Hand me ‘Gunshot and Helicopter Engines CD number 3, Jimmy.’ " Or a novelist. ---

If skills weren’t an issue? Mad Scientist. I suppose that’s not a realistic “Career” (Or maybe it IS…Gerald Bull and Nikola Tesla come to mind), but it would just do my heart good to live in a secluded mansion on a hill overlooking a sleepy New England college town…while in the basement, I dabble with things Man-was-Ment-to-Leave-Alone. \>:) Realistically? A concept designer for a video game company. God, that’d be a great job. I have no idea how I could ever GET a job like that, but I can always dream… Ranchoth (“Suave, International Black Marketeer” would look bad on a resume anyway, I suppose… 🙂 ) ---

Manage a direct investment fund. That way I could go around to a lot of cool places and check out some real interesting businesses, and then help them realize their dream of getting capital and doing something really productive with it. ---

Like others have posted, I had my dream job. But the dream became somewhat solemn as time went by. Now it would be working as a lawyer in Cyberlaw, including IP and harassment issues. Recent stalkings and online attacks on me by various…persons has seriously made me consider starting law school at nights this Fall, so I can start making people pay. ---

I met some guy in a bar once who’s job (and he was working on this night) was going to different bars, getting drunk, and buying rounds of beers for people in the bar (But only of the beer company he worked for. An English import beer that was actually pretty good.) THAT my friends, is my dream job! I buy at least one now everytime I go to that bar out of respect for the 5 or 6 pints he bought me that night. But short of being a beer sales rep… Sports writer? See games, see the US, meet people. I’ve been thinking of putting up an independent sports web site for fun anyway. Maybe I’ll get bought out by espn or something. 🙂 ---

This is easy! I want to be a “Leisure Time Consultant”-you know, all of those yuppie types that spend 120 hours/week on their high-tech jobs? They have NO time in which to plan weekends, vacations, activities,etc. That is where I step in…I am like a personal fitness coach-I advise them on how to spend their leisure time! For example-they want cuklture?-I plan a museum visit for them, with lunch and transportation! Sounds like a dynamite idea! How do i franchise this? ---

I almost got what I’d consider a dream job: purchasing consultant for a video distribution company. I’d spend all day watching and recommending B-grade movies. Paradise! But now I proofread ad copy and write articles for a couple of magazines. I’ll accept that instead.
