# A Public Apology to Manhattan and the SDMB Staff

I wish to apologize to Manhattan, as well as the entire Straight Dope Message Board Staff, and anyone else who was taken in by my bad joke.
Yes, it was intended as a joke. I was very tired, which is not to be used as an excuse, but knowing this may help you imagine my frame of mind.
I don’t know why I did it, exactly, but as soon as I woke up the next morning I realized how bad of a joke it really was. I tried for about a half hour to log onto my ISP, but it wasn’t responding. When I finally logged on about ten minutes ago, I rushed to post explanations in the threads.
I want to again tell everyone, ESPECIALLY Manny that I’m sorry. It really was just a very bad joke. I wish no ill on anyone… I suppose it was supposed to be a bad prank or something, but now, thinking about the recent Troll invasion, I realize the could be (and was) seriously misconstrued.
Sorry.

I don’t know…yeah it was inappropriate, yeah Manny is right to be upset, but it was kind of amusing once I knew that it really was a joke. Suspension for a week is reasonable. But everybody jumping on the bandwagon, calling homer a troll, talking trash and everything…that’s overboard. The only one who was wronged is Manhattan (the mod, not the island. Although I’ve heard plenty of slights and insults aimed at the island, too. But I digress).
The guy didn’t technically _need_ to apologize, since his suspension was not conditional on an apology, but he did anyway because it was the cool thing to do. So lighten up, guys!
Besides, let him who has never played/told an inappropriate prank/joke cast the first flame.
