I just started watching _House_ this season, and something has me scratching my head. Why why WHY does Wilson put up with House? Wilson bails him out, lies to the police for him, and still he treats Wilson like dirt. The others put up with him because they have to. But Wilson associates with him by choice. Why? Regarding tonight’s episode, I completely expected House’s story about the janitor in the Japanese hospital to be revealed as a load of crap, a ploy to get the coma guy to talk, and was surprised when it wasn’t. Anyone else? ---

Wilson would probably feel bad about leaving House without a friend in the world. ---

Their personal relationship is modelled on Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Watson was tolerant of Holmes misanthropic little peccadilloes, so Wilson is tolerant of House’s misanthropic little peccadilloes. ---

Well, House didn’t rat Wilson out for that little sleeping-with-the-terminal-patient thing, and let him sleep on his couch when he broke up with his wife. The relationship isn’t always as one-sided as it is now. ---

It was mentioned by Laurie that House/Holmes similarity was deliberate, so the Wilson/Watson similarity would also seem to fit in. ---

He has a keen analytical intellect and shares many of House’s traits. He is the player on the other side. Now if the two end up falling over a waterfall in a life and death struggle (The Fountain in the hospital?) well… 😃 ---
