Not a movie, but Tom Baker calls Elizabeth Sladen “Liz,” rather than Sarah Jane in one episode of _Doctor Who_. ---

In _Easy Rider_ when they’re introducing themselves to the girls at the brothel there’s a dub, which I took to mean that one of them used the wrong name. ---

There was one of these in the outtakes at the end of one of the _Rush Hour_ movies. Chris Tucker calls Jackie Chan “Jackie”. ---

Lip-readers have spotted a few silent films (_The Cameraman_, for instance) in which actors are calling each other by their real rather than character names. ---

One of the Brady boys called Jan aka Eve Plumb ‘Eve’ in a _Brady Bunch_ episode. I think they were on a trampoline. ---

I could swear in _Grumpier Old Men_, Anne Margaret screams “Jack” at Jack Lemmon when Walter Matthau’s dog chases her cat through their house, wrecking her art. Jack’s character’s name is John in the movie. ---

[/QUOTE] Wow, what a coinkidink. I just watched that movie, the version with the running commentary from the researchers (I bet you did too). They pointed out that although in some press or studio documents (I can’t remember), Buster Keaton is listed as playing someone of a different name, by the time the movie came out, his character was named Buster. They speculated that the production people had noticed that it was easy to see that people in the movie (a silent with title cards) were calling him “Buster”, so they just changed the name of the character. This is also the only silent movie I can recall seeing with a verbal pun exchange, _in title cards._ ---

I’ve listened to the scene in Star Wars extensively myself, and it distinctly sounds like “Hey!” to me. I don’t really get “Carrie!” out of it as all. But there is a lot of background noise and it’s hard to tell. ---
