Yes, we regarded an attempt to draw attention to the snark board, and to do snarking on this board, as a separate matter from the snarkpit coming up in conversation. This thread didn’t go anywhere or draw any warnings.

As I have said before: it’s like the US’s policy on marijuana. There is no real reason for it beyond upholding history, but they find themselves in a position where they are unable to reverse themselves without looking stupid. Looking stupid is worse (apparently) than being consistent, even when that consistency is wrong.

It used to be in the Pit Forum Rules sticky, and was generally understood to also apply board-wide. I vaguely remember discussion of retracting it in the Pit when the rules were changed, but I think that only led to its removal from the Pit Rules sticky but not its addition anywhere else.
