Okay, it’s not really about his thread, but about something I read in the link posted in it. The point being made is that the Nazis saw gun registration as an essential part of creating a totalitarian state. It is offered as an argument against gun control, unless, of course, one favors the creation of a totalitarian state. ---

The quote is also a lie promulgated by people who oppose gun control laws in order to scare undecided people into opposing gun control laws because they would, of course, oppose Hitler. I generally oppose gun control laws (as they have been proposed over the last 25 years), but I find so many really stupid and dishonest people spewing lies and nonsense on the subject that I feel whipsawed between arguing against the bad ideas of control proponents and telling people on “my side” to stop spewing dishonest nonsense. I think reasonable folks like **Ex Tank** have made the gun ownership case very well in the past and I don’t feel a need to make my own stomach upset by participating. ---

Hitler was a sober vegetarian, too. I would advise **Heloise** to only date guys with a healthy appetite for beer and meat. Any other description could mean he’s a Nazi. 🙂 ---
