A Question For Historians: Anything New About WWII?

It would be cool to find the lost Amber Room, from the Russian palace near St. Petersberg. It’s caught the fancy of many treasure seekers and a new theory of its location is made every few years. Officially, it was looted and taken to Königsberg for display, and then destroyed during the bombing of the city. There’s been just enough disinformation spread about it to fuel the alternate theories.

There’s an episode of myth hunters (NOT mythBUSTERS) that deals with the guy in charge of moving the amber room. Not a bad show. Or series. The show surmises that the castle where it is was stored got revenge razed by the Russians themselves, thereby destroying their own national treasure. So the guy in charge of the amber room made up some stories about it being looted so that he could keep his job looking for it and not get purged by an angry Stalin, or some such. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the show.
