Rather than hijack **jab1’s** [apology thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=68948), which I think is one of the most honorable things that can be done by any poster on the SDMB, I decided to take my inquiry to a seperate thread altogether. So, without further ado: **sojourn** : Why exactly did you join these boards? Now, personally, I don’t feel that this is the attitude of someone who would want to join a _community_ such as the SDMB. But hey, I’m a nice, forgiving guy, so I’m going to browse through all the forums and try to find a place where an insolent little shit like yourself belongs. 'Kay? **Great Debates**? Nope. You started your post off about how jab was apologizing to people he was “debating with,” and seemed to imply that this meant that his apology was stupid and unnecessary. This automatically demonstrates that you don’t belong in Great Debates. Why? Because a basic concept of debates is to _not lose your temper and offend people_. Whether it be on a Message Board or in a courtroom, losing your temper is a surefire way to lose the argument, because people won’t take you seriously. Think of it this way: it’s more efficient to show evidence supporting evolution to a creationist than to shout out “We’re all just SMELLY APES! Why can’t you understand that! You’re such an ASSHOLE! A SMELLY, APE ASSHOLE!” See my point? So, that’s one forum down. But could you belong in **Comments on Cecil’s Columns and Staff Reports**? Pheh. Don’t think so. That requires intelligence. And you obviously lack that. Otherwise, you wouldn’t make one of your first acts as a new poster be posting to an apology thread about how apology threads are stupid. Sorry, both those forums are out, too. But let’s move along. **IMHO**. A toned-down version of Great Debates, in that you’re sharing opinions, so you don’t belong there, either. Also, it has the word “Humble” in the title, so you would stand out like a Serlin sockpuppet. **MPSIMS**. The thought of you in this forum is almost funny. All that cyber-hugging and genuine compassion would no-doubt make your tiny, misshapen head explode. Sorry. **General Questions** seems like a possibility. After all, you’re just getting people’s answers to your questions, and then offering your own in turn. But I’m afraid you wouldn’t be very good at that. Questions should be asked in a form that makes people want to answer them. “I want an answer and I want an answer NOW, dipshits!” is genearally frowned upon, and most of your posts seem to be in that spirit. Likewise, your condescending, bullshit nature may not be the best way to go about answering someone’s question. So, once again, you have to move on. Ah, but what about the **BBQ Pit** , you ask? I mean, Hell, EVERYBODY’S bitter and angry here, I’ll fit right in! Just one problem. Knowing when and when not to flame somebody or something is a delicate art. If you just run around posting random angry shit, like you did in jab’s thread, you’re not going to get a very good reputation. All it’s going to do is get a lot of people pissed at you, and probably end up in you being kicked off of the boards. Sorry, but it seems that even the Pit is not a good home for you. Well, there’s always **About This Message Board**. But so far you’ve shown no sign of having the slightest clue of how this Message Board works, so hanging out there might not be too beneficial. I’ll just close by saying this, sojourn. The SDMB, whether you believe it or not, is a community. It is a community based around the gaining of understanding through interaction, and a big part of interation is intelligent conversation. Everyone here is a real person (with the exception of the mods, they’re above humanity), and therefore all the rules of real life apply. These rules include the idea that if you say something that offends a lot of people, they’re going to stay offended until you apologize. It’s that simple. And if you refuse to accept this and go on posting your random shit on the boards, then all you’re doing here is taking up bandwidth. So I’ll say it one more time, with emphasis, **sojourn** , why _did_ you join this message board? ---

I wasn’t involved in the thread in question because I didn’t really participate in the first one, but I did read them and I agree. **jab1** is a class customer.
