I stopped reading X-Men back during the whole “Operation: Zero Tolerance” thing. I got sick of the tie ins and cross overs, and the books were starting to stink, so I stopped. When I stopped, Rogue’s powers were that she couldn’t touch anyone without absorbing their psyche and (if applicable) super powers. She could fly, was super strong, and damn near invulnerable.

I glanced through a few issues of X-Treme X-Men, and she had fucking bone claws and was rubbing all up on Gambit with nothing bad happening.

What the FUCK did they do?

Actually … no. 😃

But really, from what I inderstand, is in those books, a few issues back, she and Remy were skewered and almost died together, and somehow lost all their powers. Something they are having to deal with now as they are pretty much normal people for the first time in their lives.

'Course, I’ve only really skimmed the last six months of these books, so a regular reader may be able to give you a better answer.

From the X-Men FAQ ( [http://www.enteract.com/~katew/faqs/racmxFAQ/](http://www.enteract.com/~katew/faqs/racmxFAQ/) )

> [@](#):
>
> **Why does Rogue have claws? When did that happen?**
>
> Two words: “Maximum Security.” In that storyline, Rogue absorbed a young Skrull girl. Because the Skrulls can change their form, Rogue’s body had a severe reaction to the absorption. Basically, when trying to find a form to shift to, the shape-shifting power comes up with multiple examples: all of the people that Rogue has previously absorbed.
>
> So far, Rogue has manifested Wolverine’s claws and healing factor most often, but she has also manifested powers and features of Cyclops, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm and Magneto (in UXM #388, with Colossus and possibly Storm also in Bishop #16), and Cecilia Reyes (X-Men #108). This also explains the red glasses in X-Treme X-Men–she’s compensating just in case Cyke’s optic blasts return unexpectedly.
>
> As for why we’re seeing the claws consistently… well, Rogue wants them (on panel) so she can be tough, and Claremont (off panel) is using her as a substitute Wolverine. Expect to see the new powers for a while.

How this fit’s in to being able to touch people without Bad Things happening, I couldn’t tell you. I could go off on a rant here about Chris Claremont, but I’ll spare you.
