A relaxing walk in the field… (wildlife encounters)

Another encounter last night…

I was walking the field, with my SKS and Blackhawk per usual, no “snappersign” at the pond, but the deer were grazing the field at approx. 120 yards or so, keeping an eye on me

I sat down on our dock/float at the edge of the pond to watch them at a nice safe distance, after about 10 minutes, Alpha female walked to the woodlot, turned and led her fawn out to graze, she apparently felt safe enough to know that I’m no threat to her or her fawn

If anything, she should see me as a fellow defender of her fawn, as it’s just about coy-dog “snack size”, the coy is about the size of an adult German Shepherd dog, and it needs to find some other territory to stalk as it is not welcome here…

My wildlife encounter last week was pretty exciting even though it was over in about 4 seconds. I was driving in Yosemite when a bear came running down the hill and shot out right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and it was across the road and gone down the other side in a flash. I couldn’t have missed it by more than a foot. If the bear had timed his dash just a split second later, he would’ve smashed into the side of my car.

That would have been a truly unbearable encounter…
