Only to a \*very \* casual observer. Casual as in “doesn’t give a damn about much of anything”, that is.

Let’s see: I bought me a new horse a couple of months ago. Before we came to a meetin’ of the minds, he bucked me waaay up in the air and I landed on a hard rock road. That got my attention for a spell.

Then a few weeks ago I was changin’ a tire on my truck, and when I got done and went to pick the flat up, a rattlesnake had coiled hisself around it. _That_ got me excited sho-nuff!

Then there’s that Ashley Judd gal: I can get riled up a good bit just watchin’ one of her movies.

I can also get right _intense_ about the Auburn Tigers football team.

So there’s four things right there: Horses, rattlesnakes, women and football. I’d recommend you try at least some of 'em, to some degree. I don’t expect any of them things will give you a stroke, which is certainly going to happen to you if you keep obsessing over this here Bush situation.

I dunno. I got me a cousin that’s a peckerwood, lives over in New Braunfels. Went to Baylor to study bein’ a cheerleader. There’s times when she don’t seem all that perceptive.

Baylor? “The Athens on the Brazos”? The Vatican Library of the Baptists? I have a cousin who was an Aggie (we don’t talk much about him, we’re still kind of ambivalent about the prospect of parole) and another who went to UT till he got drafted. But none who have trod such a rarified height, nor such a position of personal purity, as a Baylor cheerleader! A word like “chaste” seems too pale, too weak for such Vestals as these, committed to go to the alter chaste, or the grave, but one or the other, and none other. I am stunned, it is too many for me. I fold.

Okay, you’ve distracted me from the Bush-bashing obsession. What breed – Quarter Horse, Fox Trotter, TB, Walker, what? Short-coupled? That type can snap its back and launch you for damn sure. Wasn’t if the Auburn Tigers of 1978 that went 6-5 with William Andrews, Joe Cribbs and James Brooks, all future pro running backs on the team? Underachievers!

About all he learned in the years after. **About a briefing to the president on August 6, 2001. “It was all there,”** Tuohey says. “Osama bin Laden. Hijackings. Buildings in New York City. These weren’t dots they had to connect. These were potholes. **If just those words – _hijackings, terrorists_ – had come down to us, we’d have gone to level 3 security.** Now here I am. I have two young Arabic men in front of me. One-way tickets, checking in just minutes before departure. **At level 3, I would have been required to notify security. Their bags would have been opened. What we saw would have set off suspicions: a pilot’s uniform, a video on flying jets.** Airline pilots do not buy $2,400 first-class tickets. Airline pilots are the cheapest people on earth. Right there, we would have known something was wrong. This was preventable.”

]([http://www.yankeemagazine.com/thisissue/features/fiveyears911.php](http://www.yankeemagazine.com/thisissue/features/fiveyears911.php)) The American Airlines ticket agent who checked Atta and al Omari in at Logan airport in Boston committed suicide.

And ABC/Disney has the unmitigated _gall_ to egregiously misrepresent the agents’ roles on that fateful day, basically pointing a bigass finger right at them! A woman is dead and they besmirch her memory with fucking lies. The people who wrote, made, financed, broadcast or in any way worked on this piece of filth have no souls. And the fucking prick – the man who had been _told_ this was being planned and who actually _had_ the power to do something about it – uses the anniversary of this tragedy for his fucking political grandstanding. Every fucking one of them makes me sick.

I got the impression that this particular Baylor Belle was more chased than chaste. Speakin’ of Aggies, after my cuz got her degree in cheerleadin’ she married an ex-student. He went into cotton farmin’ and she set up makin’ babies. She produced four little peckerwoods, which number is greater than the number of profitable years he’s had growing cotton.

I didn’t think anybody would have the ill grace to ask that question! This being the internet and all, I suppose I could claim that the offending horse is a wild mustang, fresh and hard from the western plains. Or perhaps he’s of rodeo lineage, a trained buckin’ bronco?
Of course, there have been any number of falls, several the result of a slipped saddle. (There are those who would claim that my saddle stays about half-slipped anyway.)
No, I will not lie. The first horse to actually buck me off in 30 years is ¼-quarter horse and ¾ Welsh Pony. :o :o :o :o :o

Heh, the most remarkable thing I’ve seen along those lines was about that same era: The Florida Wallow-Gators went 0-11 or maybe it was 0-10-1 for the season, then had 10 (Count 'em TEN) players drafted by NFL teams. 😛

It made me cringe but maybe for different reasons than you. There’s a _whole world_ outside of the United States and America’s only concern is this sex scandal. In the context of the film, you have the 1998 bombings and then you have the Lewinsky story. Which is more important; foreign policy or, ahem, domestic policy?
