To succeed, a third party needs several things:
A charismatic candidate (Teddy Roosevelt, say)
A strong, regional base (the South for Strom Thurmond, e.g.)
A burning issue that gets people excited.
Would a Bloomberg/Nunn or Nunn/Bloomberg ticket have ANY of those things?
No.
It’s a stupid idea. But if Bloomberg wants to blow a few hundred mill, he’s free to do so.
