A Scintillating MMP – and other nifty words

That blows, mousie. At least they gave you a decent amount of heads up so that you can start the job search now, though.

And yay on getting lunch orders, Pie! That’s wonderful news.

Time for me to pack it in for the day. A bunch of us are going out for Thai food to say goodbye to Boss Lady (her contract wasn’t renewed, so she’s leaving us tomorrow sniff). Please think non-pig-out thoughts for me… I already went out for dinner on Tuesday and am going out again tomorrow, Saturday AND Sunday. There goes my resolution to eat more reasonably. :stuck_out_tongue:

Quick update, the doctors in Anchorage are taking Lucy off the medication to see how she does. She has been responding to hand squeezes, although she is still intubated. I am feeling cautiously optimistic. Thanks yet again for the hugs and support, you have no idea how much it means to me.

I just spent a wunnerful day in the ER.

VWife was doing her morning routine, and was trying to get Loki inside after being let outside to lay landmines. Booger the cat saw the door open and darted, pissing off VWife immensely. She bent over to grab him and wound up falling off the porch down the steps; six steps and 4 feet down.

Fred across the road saw bot dogs outside acting strangely and called the rescue squad, a couple of Samaritans driving by also saw the dogs first, then saw VWife on the ground and stopped. Loki bit one of the Samaritans defending his momma.

I met the ambulance at the hospital. CAT scans, X rays, bloodwork; in the end the verdict was nothing broken, but she did have the crap beaten out of her and she’ll be sore for quite a while.

ETA: She’s home, BTW.

Yup, I learned that lesson the same way. :smack:

Hey, I do! I’ll get that out. Thor (the hamster) didn’t like it and it didn’t move across the carpet well enough with him in it. (And it moved too fast on the non-carpeted areas. We were worried about him hurting himself when he ran into walls or cabinets or whatever at high rates of speed.) But maybe the gerbils can make it move better on the carpets. I’ll try it tonight!

Yay on the lunch orders, Pie!

Sorry about the job news, mousie.

Time to go home!!! Yay! It’s almost Firday! Double yay!!

Hugs all around
On a completely unrelated note, kai, I have a question. Vaseline Intensive Care lotion has an ad playing - they went to Kodiak to convince folk who suffered from winter chapped hands how good their product is. Every time I see it, I wonder if you know any of the folk in the commercial (if you’ve even seen the commercial) or even if you’re one of them?

Yeah, I’ve done that more than once before. Happens a lot when co-workers two time zones over forget that we eat lunch in California. I suspect it will happen more often now that we’re coast-to-coast.

Now I have a mental image of kai slathered in vaseline intensive care, playin’ jigzone, with a pile of peppermint pattie wrappers scattered all around her.
BBBobbio glad Vwife is ok.

{{{mousie}}} here’s hopin’ you find a new and better gig soon.

Howdy Y’all! Work is over for the week! WOOHOO!!!

Puggy it’s gonna get down to like 15 Amurrkin here tomorrow night!

Tomorrow I shall snuggle down in my nice warm blankey while everybody trudges off to work in the cold. AHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Actually Ima make some lasagna in my big roaster oven thingy tomorrow. I have ground beast thawin out tonight. It’ll cook for several hours in roaster oven thingy and be nummy come dindin time tomorrow night. Sounds like a good thing to have on a cold day.

Ok, off to do, ummm… sump’n.

Later Y’all!

{{{kai}}} Hang in there, sweetie. And make sure you take care of yourself.

{{{mousie}}} - hope you find something soon.

**LiLi **- holy cow, your young 'un has just shot up! I can’t believe it’s a year already.

{{{Bbbobbio & VWife}}} OUCH!

FCD had an adventure today - one of his molars split in half, so he had to make an emergency visit to the dentist. We’ve got 2 different dental insurances (my work and his) and we still had to shell out $400+ as our share. Then again, sans insurance, it might have come to well over a thousand, so there’s that.

Personally, I’m suspicious, because today was firewood day. And since *someone *was at the dentist, SIL and I did it ourselves. We found the Amish guy who had the wood, and after I backed the trailer waaaaaaay down the lane, we started loading. I’d decided we just needed a half a cord this time, but it still took two trips. The first time, the farmer helped us load, and when we came back, he sent 3 of his kids down to help. The two older ones tossed logs, and the youngest supervised.

SIL almost got the giggles - he looked up at one point and saw a pink scarf and a pink hat with only eyes peering out. Once we were on the way, he told me what he was thinking - Amish Ninja! So now we need to write the story of the pink Amish Ninja!

Anyway, the patient is recovering, dishes are washing, and the kids are out fetching us milkshakes. Yum.

And it’s almost Firday! YAY!!

Happy First Birthday, Nat!!!

and

Happy Surprise Birthday, Spaz!!!

Glad Lucy appears to be doing better and that VWife is OK.

Have a nice weekend SO!

I’m really looking forward to your OP, Dotty. I want to hear all about your vacation.

I’ve been surfing around, catching up on e-mail (I was incredibly behind) and generally vegging. I have a big day at work tomorrow, then FIVE DAYS OFF. Yay!

Not much else to report.

Hugs to all who need them.

GT

I am home and slightly thawed out. It’s a balmy -14. I dunno the windchill, but the wind made me cry, waiting at the bus-stop. I missed the 610pm train by 2 minutes, which means that I need to be AT the bus stop by 515pm tomorrow.

I know you all are writing all that down, because you care so much.
Strife and trouble seem to be dogging us all lately. Between the cold, illness, deaths, financial woes and relational difficulties (note tactful phrasing), I’m amazed any of us has a sense of humor left. Hang in there, everyone. Spring will come and as they say, once you hit bottom, all you can go is up…
I have to go back out in this nonsense tomorrow. I loves me some winter, but this is a bit much.

Happy UnBirthday to Spaz.

Morning all. As usual (for this week) someone woke up waaayyyyy too early. No surprises for guessing who! Yaaawwwwwnnnnn.

Whew! Thank Og tomorrow is Firday. And it’s brrrrr! Chilly! Argh!

More hugs and good thoughts for kaiwik and family; hope that Lucy does better, hon. Sending get well vibes her way.

Happy surprise birthday, Spaz! And happy first birthday to Nat!

Rigs, I can sympathsize with you because I’m out there waiting for the bus every morning and evening and tomorrow morning I know is going to be a bear. :frowning: It’s not so much the cold (well, yeah it is), but the wind makes it worst. At least it’s Firday, though!

Happy un-Birthday Spaz !!!

Happy Birthday Gnat!!!

24 now. I gotta unload a truck tomorrow in this weather.
{{{{kai}}}}
Yay for lunch(N.O.L.), Pie!

Glad Vwife is OK.

{{{{mousie}}}}

[sub][sub]Pre-edited to add:Code-fu weak tonight[/sub][/sub]

Squeeee, Dotty! That’s a mighty fine bed head she’s got there.

Holy crap, Bobbio! That was a rather event filled day for VWife. Glad’s she not seriously hurt.

I’m still in awe of your felicitation skillz, dog.

kai, that’s encouraging news. Sleep well tonight, I hope.

It was super fog-gee all day–still is. Temperatures are in the life-sustaining range, unlike Winnipeg’s right now for example. flings toques, scarfs and boots eastward

Off to bed…somebody shut off the lights, 'kay?

Aw, poor VWife, I hope that she’s feeling better. Also I hope that Loki, in his protection of his mistress, did not wound the Good Samaritan.

taxi, have you ever watched the smaller rodents going 110 mph on their wheel, and then miss a step and do a revolution or two before being flung out? I’m thinking that your pocket pets are safe in the hamster ball, lol!

rosie I am not in the commercial, all the weirdos come out when Outside People come to town. I do have friends in the commercial though. Probably the most recognizable is the older woman with the hat on, her name is Elinor, and she is a local character.

And you, Mr. Bear, better that image than of me, slathered in peppermint patties, playing jigzone, with a pile of Vaseline Intensive Care products surrounding me, I would imagine! You nekkid fryer of burly butcher bacon, you!

I went to water aerobics tonight, and I must be making progress as one of the new members was breathing hard while I was doing fine! Did I mention that we are using the C.G. Pool? Well, one of the exercises we do involves foam dumbbells, floating on our backs, bringing our bottoms and our legs up and bringing the dumbbells under our knees. Hmmm, bringing my bottom and legs up puts my head under water. I joked that I was gonna drown, and two of the guys announced happily “We’re the Coast Guard, we won’t let you drown!” They were entirely too amused. :dubious: That’s okay, they couldn’t keep up with the class, so I felt vindicated!

So now I am ready for a good night’s sleep. I’ll fill you in on Lucy when I hear more tomorrow. Skiffman is out on the boat preparing for tanner crab, and I have a dinner date for next Firday. The last birthday dinner I was taken to was when I was 22 years old and pg with #1 daughter. For anyone counting that was 27 years ago, so I am excited.

Oh yes, Happy Birthday little Nat, and Happy UnBirthday Spaz!!!

Speaking of calendars, does anybody wanna recommend a free calendar app which doesn’t require 'net connection? I’ve got no memory but I’m also cheap.

Beautiful belated beearlied birthday, Spaz!

And a happy second birth day to Gnat

Yes, I can count. But he already had a birth day, didn’t he? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hugs all around.

Not sure what to say about this day. Something, shall we say, *inconvenient *and potientially costly has happened. Hopefully it will be remedied soon.

Oh, my. Hope everything turns out OK, Pie.

HRH has the most awesome hair, Dotty!

It’s -10[sup]o[/sup] out (-24 for you Celsius users). For some reason I’m not all enthusiastic about going outside. I’ll be wearing the heavy coat and two scarves, tyvm.

Off to look for breakfast. I think it’s an oatmeal kind of morning again…

GT

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ and not goin’ to work! It’s 25 Amurrkin with a wind chill of 18 and around these parts that’s cooooooooooooooooooold!!!

CutiePie hope everything’s ok.

Awwwwww… Dotty HRH just gets cuter and cuter!

I woke up cause I had to pee. I considered goin’ back to bed but thought, if’n I did, I might be too wide awake to nap later. One must not put oneself in a position to miss one’s day off nap after all!

Y’all in the awful cold and icky weather stay warm! I have to steel myself to walk down the driveway to get the paper in a bit. That requires at minimum puttin’ on sweatpants and a hoodie.

First though, brekkie foragin’ must occur.

Later Y’all!

Good morning!

I’m off today, too - but I have a full day planned. 8:30 to the eye doctor, 11:00 boobie-squishing, 2:00 blood-letting, and after that I go by the dealership to get my new door handle installed. A clip thingie broke on it, so they said they would put a whole new part on.

Dad seems to be much better today. His hand is hardly shaking at all! Yay! He seems pretty with it too - last night he was a bit confused. Actually, he just substituted the name of one hospital for theone he was just in. He has an appt with a dermatologist today, and was telling Mr Rebo where it was, which understandably confused Mr Rebo when I had already told him where the doc’s office was.

We talked about what to do if another TIA happens. VBob, do you think we should rush to the emergency room with each episode? Could a TIA gradually turn into a full blown stroke? Or does a stroke happen all at once? We’ll ask his neurologist this question, too, of course.

And owie for your wife! I’m glad she wasn’t hurt too badly.

Yay for the lunches, Pie!

Yay for water aerobics, kai. I hope the exercise purged some of your stress. Crossing my appendages for Lucy.

Happy Birthdays and un-Birthdays!

Laterz…
