A Scintillating MMP – and other nifty words

{{Soapy}} You’ve had a rough few months, from the sounds of it… most people would feel overwhelmed, but it takes guts to ask for help.

Hope all goes well. And like Pie says, it’s perfectly okay to go see a different therapist if you don’t click with the first one… after all, you’re not expected to buy the first pair of jeans you try on at the store, and your mental well-being is 100x more important than a pair of jeans (but a good fit is just as important for both).

Hope you’re warm and toasty by now, rosie. Having no heat sucks large… we keep a couple of space heaters on hand because we learned the hard way last winter. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sleepytime for me. I’ve got a migraine brewing and I plan to head it off at the pass… it can’t get me if I’m unconscious! Nyah!

BLIZZARD?

It’s the seventh circle of hell is what it is.

Ah. OK. Got it.

yes, thank you, the circulation is returning to my toes.
I think the guy is still puttering around, but it is definitely warmer now.

Yippee! Finally got a couple of things listed on Etsy. Go me!!! Not sure if I can put it in my sig and post it (or if that’s against the rules), but it’s in my sig in my profile in case you’re interested. I’ve got zillions more to add, but I’m exhausted and ready to finish for the evening.

Ugh. That took a really long time. But I now have three plans for graduation (well, four, but I don’t like one of them).[ol]
[li]Straight Poli Sci major, which I could finish in spring '10.[/li][li]Poli Sci major, Math minor. Fall of '10.[/li][li]Poli Sci and Math major, Stat minor. Spring '12.[/li][/ol]For some reason, I don’t like the feel of the Poli Sci/Math major alone.

On the one hand, I’d like to get working with this stuff soon, or start my master’s and maybe doctorate. On the other hand, I do like math a lot, and given that I want to work with elections, math and statistics are both really helpful. Money is fortunately not a concern, so the only problem with staying in school for another three years is that I would probably get tired of it eventually. That in itself suggests that heading directly to grad school might not be a good idea. Unfortunately, since all three plans have different ideas for fall '09, I don’t have a tremendous amount of time to decide, and if I go with the first plan (and to a lesser extent, the second one), I need to start looking at jobs/grad schools pretty much now, though not with too much urgency yet.

Gratz, taxi and mousie!

Snowybunny, I talk to Scottish lads every day

I’m supposed to update the schematic that shows the structure for The Monster we’re installing. The Monster’s definitions keep changing daily. My feminine intuition, coupled with my superior gnomish intellect, indicate that this is going to be a very good job for my piggybank.
Phase One of The Monster was supposed to go live on April 2008 when I got hired in March; it’s been crawling back and now the magic date is supposed to be February 1, 2009. Yesterday I asked whether we’d get a bonus if we had Phase Two ready before One and was told That Is Not Funny. But I still think we ought’a get a bonus if we manage that… and fear we might manage it.

{{{Soapy}}}. Nothin’ wrong with therapy. Oh and like others have said, if the first therapist is not a good match, find another. It’s important to find the right one.

Hope your house and water are all warm and toasty now BioRosie.

doggio I take it the store move is a good thing.

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s my hump day. YAY!!!

Everybody in the blizzard/other yuck weather stay safe.

Ok, need more caffiene now. Brekkie too.

Later Y’all!

So, does the fact this made me (literally) LOL make me an evil person?

No, I didn’t ask if I am an Evil Person! I **know **the answer to that one!
I asked if this particular fact makes me an evil person!! :stuck_out_tongue:

**Mousie **and **Taxi **-- yay on the good news.
**Ivory **-- hang in there. Trying to figure out what’s up with yourself and then trying to fix it is a good thing.

Recommendation: take some time off before getting your graduate degrees. Get a job in the field for a year or so and then go back to school. You’re going to need that break and the experience will help you in the long run.

This marks Day 7 of Spaz Works All the Night Shifts. Tomorrow is Spaz’s Day Off. Spaz will take next Thursday night off as well and to hell with 'em if they don’t have New Guy ready yet. He’s gonna have to work at night alone sometime, better sooner than later.

Heh. I think it’s funny too, Nava. Obviously, some people don’t have a sense of humor. ::Joins SO in the Corner of Evil::

Up. Oatmeal is et. Seeking motivation for further preparation for work.

Guess I’ll slink off to greet the day…

GT

Up and off to work.

Blurf.

Another day driving a desk…

Mahna, I hope the migraine didn’t force its way in.

Cap’n, I wish I had the experience to offer you more than just some extra special Quick & Easy Big Decision vibes.

Always Brings Pie, I adore your tiny cake earrings, but I see no pies. I’m sensing a dichotomy in your nature.

Ivory, all of my panic and almost all my anxiety went away after therapy (CBT). I felt better just seeking help because I was getting nowhere trying to figure it out on my own.

I’m definitely feeling better weaning off the meds. My head is far less swimmy for Day 3 since the last ½ pill.

I sent out a resume on Friday for a job I’d be perfect for. I managed to tailor my resume, compose the cover letter and email it without any anxiousness or a break in concentration. If I get a phone call for an interview and don’t have an instant panic attack, I’ll know I’m truly ready to work again. I want to work again to keep us from being impecunious. Actually, to state we are impecunious is complete hyperbole. We’re managing well enough on one salary—even with Mr. J’s reduced winter hours.

And now for something completely different: our TV has oddly lost signal to all channels and gone to LOUDBUZZYFUZZY screen several times this morning. No biggie, I suppose, as long as the signal comes back. Heh.

And FCM, I l keep saying “callipygian” in my head. I like the sound of it apparently!

The more I work in ProjectLand, the more I start to realise that all projects are essentially the same horrendous disorganized mess, no matter what it is you’re implementing. You may as well be describing my project, except in our case our go-live in over a year away, which gives us plenty of time to pretend that we’re still on schedule. Lalala.

Yep, the whole world is backasswards.

On that note, time to bundle myself up and head to the salt mines. It’s white and blizzardy out there… bletch.

The Vampire Bus was coming to a location nearby, so we were asked to donate. Only our Office Assistant and me are going.

Makes me want to stand on my desk and yell “HEY! Anybody who hasn’t had hepatitis, isn’t HIV+ and weighs more than 55kg, I want to know why are you NOT donating!” Yeah, yeah, I know it’s not compulsory, but damn… with about 100 people here, only 2 donors?
That single fact can’t make you evil, SO, gt and Muppet: I came up with it and I’m a Certified Goody-Two-Shoes. Most of the time. Or something.

Muppet, I’ve worked in two projects that were on time, on target and on budget. Of course, the fact that I set the calendar and targets for one of them may have helped, but I wasn’t responsible for the other one. In any case, I can certify they do exist.

Hell, yeah!

I managed to get my ass down to the Red Star offices to donate, without anybody showing up to prod me! (Well, prod me they did in the end, but only because I showed up… :D)

So it must be something else, then…

That seals it – you really are a figment of the Message Board’s imagination! :stuck_out_tongue:

Mornin’

I called up to Grandpa’s hotel room yesterday to talk to him, and got my Aunt M instead. This turned out to be quite good because, aparently Aunt M made either the doctor or nurse go through all of the tests Grandpa is having done. She took notes, and must have made them spell the stuff out for her because she certainly couldn’t tell me what things were, she was spelling them. So, there’s an Electrophysiologic study, a Radiofrequency ablation, it sounds like a Multi Gated Acquisition Scan, and they’re thinking of replacing his current pacemaker with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator.

I’m pretty sure Grandma got “electronic” from electrophysiologic and “scan” from another test. Or something.

I sent Aunt M an email with the stuff I found, so she can compare what I have with her notes to make sure that this is the right stuff. If not, she’ll let me know.

It’s nice just to know, though.

Pie, the jewelry is super cute! Are they actual cookies with a lacquer or is it polymer clay? Just curious.

((Soapy))

Swampy you poor poor baby. You shouldn’t have to put up with it being 55. I feel so bad for you. I have 10 inches of snow that you can have…or how about a blizzard on the way?

:: Cheers :: for Kt.

Heh. I hadn’t noticed that. I’ve made a couple of pies, but they haven’t made it on there yet.

Here at work, supposed to be working… Meh. I’ll get back to that in a moment or two.

Missed the edit…

Mousie, all of my stuff is polymer clay, although the sprinkles are real. I’ve got some cheesecakes, chocolate dipped strawberries, and cupcakes to add tonight. Sculpey is taking over my kitchen!!!:stuck_out_tongue:
