3.25pm: God, I need a massive shit.
3.29pm: I really hate people who can find things on their start menus.
3.31pm: Hey, that gives me an idea!
He waddles over to my start menu, dropping his trousers. He moans. “Uhh… putting the actual shortcut 2 levels deep inside a menainglessly named useless company folder, well that was better out than in.”
Ooh, here’s another one. It looks like “Forcing them to have a desktop shortcut _and_ a start menu folder” is super long and smelly today.
It doesn’t look like “Teasing and dashing their hopes by allowing them to choose the outermost start menu foler name, but not to not have one at all, or nest it inside ‘applets’, ‘games’ or ‘crap’” is coming out today, maybe I should have had the curry last night.
AAGGHH!! OK, there’s reasons: advertising. And laziness. And new-user-coddling. But I’m sure a lot of the time what’s easier for me is easier for them as well. It’s so FUCKING ANNOYING that I have to delete this crap every time.
Take some medicine, and don’t shit in my start menu.

My favorites are installers that put “Click Here For 700 Free Hours of AOL!” shortcuts in five or six different places. Are there really people out there who say, “You know, AOL didn’t sound good to me when I saw the offer on my desktop, or the one in my start menu, or even the one in my goddamned system tray, but now that I see it in my Favorites, I think I’ll give it a shot after all.”?
