OK – I am rushing the clock a little for us Amerikans but ---------- I was watching an old rerun of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson just now. This one was from 1974 and I was surprised at how new some of the news was to me. Nixon is in trouble over some blank spots in the tapes and John Wayne rides into a college campus in a APC (Military vehicle). Didn’t all that just happen a little while ago? I remember it all clearly!
But the real shock was a guest from a soon to be released movie called Blazing Saddles. It was Robyn Hilton who we all know much better as the secretary Miss Stein. Which made me think ---- whatever happened to her and what else was she in? Feeling the spirit of Google in me I first hit her wiki page

OK - pretty much what she said on the show. Farm girl from Idaho and all that. Then since I like to always check two sources I checked her IMDB page

OK – now that’s a little different story. Not totally strange since we are talking a Hollywood actress and even I can be a Wiki editor. So I tried another link for more biography and information

So basically she was a 33 or so year old nude model when Mel Brooks cast her. I can buy that one easily. It looks like she really was born in Twin Falls (insert your own joke here) Idaho. And at least in movies it looks like she stayed on the legitimate side of theater and tried to put the “nudie” thing in her past. I just wish she had had more success at it - she was a FANTASTIC Miss Stein!
So this brings two questions to mind (or you can ignore both and hijack away)
a) When was the last time you heard something most people would consider “history” and think of it more as “events I remember”?
or
b) When was the last time you used the internet to learn about some fairly minor movie character most people wouldn’t even care about?

a) Just about any conversation I have with someone considerably younger than me about events more than a few years ago.
b) Most times I watch a movie. 🙂
I start six weeks of paid job-hunting tomorrow. Trying not to think about how bad it’s going to be if I don’t land something in that time.

a. Quite a bit, but it happens to everybody if you live long enough.
b. Whenever I get Deja vu from seeing actors in different sci fi series.(fun fact: before he was cast as the Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi played a World Health Organization researcher in _World War Z_. His IMDB character listing is “WHO Doctor” :D:D )

Happy Moonday!
Another grey day. It’s supposed to go to mid 70’s today, and then into the 80’s the rest of the week, to almost 90 on Firday. This is after it was in the 50’s yesterday.
I’m glad for y’all that had a good time on Saturday!
It wasn’t so bad in the armpit this trip. I cut off a number of conversations before they could upset me. I don’t care what the HFH are doing, and I’m not talking politics. When she started to whine about my niece being there I told her she made the choice to let her move in.
Other then my niece’s youngest flipping out over my dog it was pretty nice.
I’m up too early, but I’m staying up for a while. Maybe a nap later.
For your first question **Ruble** , I was talking to someone not so long ago and I mentioned Agent Orange and he had no idea what I was talking about.
The second question, Elaine Giftos. I saw her in something and thought, ‘that’s the prostitute from _Three’s Company_’.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. _YAWN_ 'Tis 57 Amurrkin and clear out with a predicted high of 86 and sunny. A little cool to start the day in these parts.
**Ruble** interestin’ OP. So much of what is considered “history” now I still view as current events. So much of the things that happened in my days as a cub/young bear is considered long ago and far away now! I’m not a big fan of recognizin’ and knowin’ “stars” in movies. I just don’t recognize names of people who played a part in a movie. I’m more of an “Oh yeah, he/she is \ from such and such movie.” type.
OK, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, alas and alack, 'tis Moanday so purtification for irk must commence. Le Sigh.

What happened to my weekend? Was there a blurp in the space-time continuum? Why am I so exhausted?
OK, I know the last one - due to some, um, distress, I was up at least 3 times last night to visit the necessary. \*\*FCD \*\*wasn’t affected, so by eliminating what we’d eaten in common, I narrowed it down to the lemonade or the cucumber salad. And the salad was made with vinegar, so that probably wasn’t spoiled, and the lemonade did taste a bit off - it went down the drain this morning, and apart from fatigue, I feel OK.

FCD \*\*sees his doctor at 9:40 this morning. I hope they schedule him for surgery this week. Especially since we have a 3-day weekend coming up, so I can ease him thru the early part of recovery. We shall see…
As to the OP, before I retired, I was riding to DC with a couple of coworkers to attend a meeting. As we drove across the 14th St Bridge, I said something about the Air Florida jet that had crashed into the Potomac, hitting the bridge on the way, and how I had passed the impact site, but was still on the bridge when it happened. The guy next to me looked at me truly perplexed. It had happened in 1982 - before he was born. I was working with babies!!!
Lots to do today - hope I can stay awake for it. And it occurred to me when I let Higgs out that I still have to clean the smoker - ick. We’ll see how I feel when I get home.
It was raining, but quite bright as I drive in - Channel 7 weather says we might see a bit of sun today, and definitely tomorrow. Yay for that!

a) My current coworkers are half my age, so quite frequently. There is a new election coming soon; last week, the subject of whether to vote or not came up and I managed to kill it very dead. I said “I was born when women could not vote, I remember the assholes who wanted to keep the ban on women voting. I always vote, even if it’s blank.” My coworkers’ eyes had been getting bigger and bigger. One of them summed up their feelings in an “oh my God! :eek:”
b) Are you kidding me, my fingers can type [imdb.com](http://imdb.com) with the rest of me unconscious.
I iz bored. When you’re doing support, bored is actually good.

Well, today isn’t starting well. I’ve been trying to open a drawing file. Four times now, having used different approaches, it has shut down the program. Rebooting the computer didn’t help, either. I thought the file might have been corrupted, but I asked one of the guys what might be going on, and he was able to open it just fine.
Guess I’ll wait for the boss.
Meanwhile, I can barely keep my eyes open. _\_

They teach that late now? When I was in history class, the class ran out of time at about WW 1. I always blame our instructor, who bore a striking resemblance to Miss Piggy. When I tell the younglings that I have been around for 10 Presidents, eyes glaze over.

It’s kind of weird to realize that Vietnam is more remote to my daughter than WWII is to me.
\*\*FCD \*\*has called. Surgicals will be no later than next Weds, but the scheduler is trying to work out something sooner. From what he described, it’s not as severe a problem as I’d feared. His pain is due to a herniated disk pressing against his spinal cord. So while he is in much more pain than before previous surgeries, this one shouldn’t involve putting any more metal in his back. That should translate to a quicker recovery. Fingers crossed. We’re just waiting to head back from the scheduler…
Much frustrations at work, partly due to a program that keeps crashing. I’m at a point where I can get some work done - here’s hoping the afternoon will be less frustrating. I’m still exhausted, tho. My gut has settled down, which is great. Now, if I can just keep my eyes open till I get home…
Except I need to stop at CVS on the way to get my sweetie’s painkillers. And I think I’ll grab a sack o’salad for supper. And maybe some booze.

Yes it is Moanday for sure. I just found out my best clerk is having cataract surgery at the same time my other clerk is going to be away in Texas for a graduation. That leaves me and my teenage clerk whose last day is Monday the 6th. As the manager I am rusty at selling tickets but it is like riding a bike. I just should not have to do it. woe is me.

a) Not so much an event as the grandkids being totally puzzled about Lily Tomlin’s character, Ernestine’s job. Now, granted, I grew up with rotary dial phones, but when we went to my aunt’s house, their phone had no dial; you picked it up and asked the operator to connect you. Then, I had to explain party lines. 😛
b) Yes. And some of them I still can’t find, like a “regular” extra, who played several different roles in _Law and Order_ during the Jerry Orbach years.
