Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. ‘Twas a wunnerful time as always. Good company. Good food. Stuffded bear and OYKW. Plans are afoot for a joint “Grill and Chill” for good ol’ St. Pat’s (da bear’s church) and St. Paul’s (the area “mother Episcopal church” meanin’ good ol’ St. Pat’s started waaaaaaaaaay back when as a mission of St. Paul’s) to honor a Priest who served as Rector of good ol’ St. Pat’s and Interim Rector at St. Paul’s after he retired from good ol’ St. Pat’s. Both of our men’s groups mean a lot to Fr. Jim. Fr. Jim has renal cancer and recently had major surgery. He has recovered nicely so the idea is to have a joint “Grill and Chill” gatherin’ of both church’s men’s groups to honor him. YP is all on board with this (wouldn’t have even brought up the idea without a consult with him first) and a couple of the big folks I know down at St. Paul’s are on board so it looks like we can pull this off next month with Good ol’ St. Pat’s hostin’ bein’ as we have lots of outdoor space to do this and the month of May would be before the awfu unogly hot descends on south Jawja. How’s that for rambly! 😃 **Rosie** I just know that right place is just around the corner. Really, it is. **{{{roo}}}** Just know we Mumpers love ya! I’m all for being green & \*should \*Pit 'em for this, but I was getting a whopping “Jackson” refund from state taxes. I could be environmental; however, that would reduce my refund to a whopping 1¢ but I decided to do it the old fashioned way, print it & mail it in for 45¢ (I had old Forever stamps) + the cost of an envelope. At least I’ll get a lunch out of my refund. ---

So I got a bonus at work, yay. Then they took $1000 out for payroll and social security tax, WTF? By the time I qualify for SS it probably won’t even exist. Can I get that back now before it is gone for good? ---

$2400 for meeting my first quarter numbers. I was elated then upset they took almost half of it in taxes. 50% seems awfully high. But I have never made that much before so my perspective is off. I’ve never made more than $12/hr before. ---

Ugh (rant to follow). My housemate had a friend over last night, and they were sat up talking all bleedin’ night in the living room, basically 2m below my head. I didn’t get to sleep 'til after 3am because I could hear them, then she woke me up at 6 by dropping something or knocking it over on her way to bed. I had to take the car to the garage this morning, so I had to be up at 8, and I think I got about 4 hours sleep. Then got downstairs to discover she’d left my stereo on all night, despite the one condition of her using it- which is to turn it off afterwards. Drove the car to the garage, to find out if it’ll be legal for the next year (I’m really hoping nothing major needs fixing, because I really haven’t got the money for major repairs, but it’s an old car), then decided to cheer myself up by walking back through the park, and going to look at the wildlife pond. It was full of dead and dying frogs. I know it could be worse, but today is getting off to a really, really sucky start ☹ ---

**{{{roo}}}** That’s why I don’t spend a lot of time on Facebook. I end up comparing myself to others and overlooking the good things I do have. Sure, several of my grad school buddies are doing what I though I’d do, but I make more money than they do (sadly) and I actually have insurance. I may not be married, but I don’t have to adjust my life to anyone else’s schedule (and believe you me, I am enjoying that selfishness!) There’s a reason why most of my Facebooking is either Agony Aunt Ryl or GoodReads updates. ---

**{{{Kanga}}}** - I know it’s way too easy for me to say, but don’t wallow in a funk. When you can’t control something, let it go. Concentrate on the things you can change and do what you can to find joy in what you’ve got. GAH - that sounds sappy, but really, it does work. And like da \*\*bear \*\*says, we lurves ya, and that’s gotta be worth something! Lots o’ cute critter pics!! They make me smile. I’m up and dressed and ready to spend my day with a passel of 5th graders - rah! My daughter is giving them their measurement test today and there’s no way she could do it alone. It’s going to be enough of a challenge with 2 of us, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. These kids were all first graders when she started teaching - how time flies!! As a bonus - gas is cheaper in VA, so I can fill my car and save a nickel or two… 😃 Anyway, I’ve got to be with her from 8 till a bit after 2. I’m not sure I’ll have time or energy to do anything in the yard when I get home - maybe I can just ride the mower around - that’s relatively easy. But poor Higgs will be caged all day. She hasn’t been confined all day for a couple of weeks, poor baby… I can’t trust her out and about, tho - she chews things. So there’s my day. Happy Tuesday!! ---

Good morning everyone. Work is going well, except for the fact that I have to go back and redo several hours worth of work because I had fucked up a processing flow, so the results we were getting weren’t _quite_ right. Everything was just a _wee_ bit off! Yay! So… at least I figured out _why_ all my results weren’t coming out right. Now I just have to go back and fix them all again. 89 nodes to rescan and redo results for… yay! Also, today is my sister’s birthday. I’m having edible arrangements sent to her at work. ---

Blurf. I think I outdid myself in the weird dream department last night. Get this: I was part of a group of Dopers in a chartered bus that went to a park of some kind for a big Dopefest. Also at the park, at the same time and in a different chartered bus, was a large party of Stormfronters in drag. Think _Priscilla, Queen of the Desert_. Much hilarity ensued. ---

I did find out one person who is on LWOP attempted to show up at her trainin’ site yesterday but was sent home. Guess she believes it now! [/QUOTE] Some times it takes a dose of tough love. DH took another step to better - he woke up and cooked some oatmeal and made coffee in a percolator. Chemo doc says the Borg implant (aka central line port) can be removed pretty much any time now, so we need to get that scheduled. Then, in about 6 weeks, they’ll do another PET scan to see if they got it all. Some friends of ours who have been through chemo and radiation say that it can be a good while before all of the mental cobwebs clear. There’s definitely been some big ol’ spider nests in his noggin.
