That’s my (our) 43rd anniversary!! Not sure if that’s a promising or ominous omen… 🫢

Dishwasher has been emptied, but that’s as far as my motivation has gone. I messaged my doc and Daughter’s bestie and Daughter. Some decisions have been made which is progress of a sort. I need to get my turkey day menu written down so I can modify it as needed over the next 4 weeks. Any and all of you are invited to join us (she says, knowing full well no one wants to travel here. 😁 ) For reals, Mumpers welcome!

I think some rollsuckage will happen this afternoon. Or not. We’ll see.

At an office thing once, someone made a comment along the lines of not understanding the point of strawberry cream cheese - who wants _that_ on an everything bagel?

Which is a fair point.

But when I pointed out the existence of chocolate chip bagels, you could see the light bulb!

I wonder what, if any, treatment options even exist for something like that. Problems involving the nervous system are very rarely simple enough for “Here’s a pill” to cover it.

I finally talked to a human. They’re giving me an extension and we’re doing it by mail. I think even they know that their online services are FUBAR. The cataloging is how I keep track of where the different dies, stamps, punches, embossing folders, etc are. When my old 'puter crashed, I didn’t have that file backed up, so I’m taking the opportunity to re-do it and getting rid of tools that I don’t use. So far, I’m up to four small boxes to donate to [Texas Art Asylum](https://www.texasartasylum.com/).

That sounds aggravating about the surgery, **taters**.

Aldi has been shopped and prescriptions picked up. Now, it’s more RDOS.

I read **mollie** ’s post about how good Yorkshire Gold was and already put some on my Amazon list. Do I get a passport too?

When I lived in Boston I loved looseleaf Typhoo tea but then I moved thousands of miles inland where I could no longer get it. I made do with looseleaf Red Rose tea, which I think came from Canada but then it too became unavailable. Boston spoiled me-when I lived there in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s there were more tea shops than coffee places. I loved getting off the subway and being able to buy a cup of fresh brewed full-bodied tea with milk and sugar. The best afternoon pick-me-up there is.

Starbucks, et al. have obliterated that lovely custom. Funny, for a town that threw the King’s tea into the harbor they sure took their tea seriously.

Howdy Y’all! We had foodstuffs for lunch instead of sup just cause. It was so good plus leftovers for tomorrow, so win-win! We have also accomplished nappage and day drinkin’. I think trashy teevee and popcorn will fill up a large portion of the rest of the day.

**Sticky\_Buns** first, good to hear from ya! Also glad you didn’t fall.

**Mollie** glad **Squeaky** got rescued from the tongue of doom. Big happies are always a good thing to share! So glad you feel good about yourself.

**red** your call is important to us. Please remain on the line. A representative will be with you shortly. In the meantime please enjoy the most annoyin’ music we could find.

**Taters** since the surgery was not necessary, I don’t blame you for not goin’ through with it. I wouldn’t either. Glad y’all had a nice weekend hangin’ with your son. Poor Buster! Them stairs is sneaky!

**Nettie** a doggie bein’ content is a big happy. Eddy showed you, I guess! Hope the former neighbor gets the help she needs. **MetalMouse** is a southern transplant, though we claim him as one of us now.

**Cookie** looks like wife and you had a good talk.

**Rockin’** I think a weddin’ and a trunk-or-treat combo would be fun. There should be a 'smores bar.

**Nuts** a tentative date means the end is within sight. That’s a thing to feel good about. Sorry some of your peeps won’t be able to be there.

**doggio** glad irk was not as horrible as it could have been. Glad for Spot’s antipersonal skills improvement. It’s better to hate and let it be known, I suppose.

**MOOOOOOM** since we have told six people to come for Turkey Day, I suppose that means there should actually be a plan. I guess they’ll want food as well. Company can be so pushy!

**shoe** I would put strawberry cream cheese on an everything bagel. Then again, not everyone has a sophisticated and refined palate such as I do.

**MOOOOOOM** I’d be careful with that. Do you really want big peanut butter to come after you? I like rollup sammiches too.

**shoe** I think Monkey just wanted to go on what they call in Oz, a walkabout. He was craving a little adventure. Perhaps he got a little more adventure than he wanted or he just really missed you or he realized that you are the one who provides for all his needs. What about getting Monkey one of those tags like I have on my keys, that if they go missing/mislaid/their own walkabout, I can locate them using the ap on my phone.

Good evening. Went to work and then went to the gym. Their app still doesn’t want to work for me, but at least I’m not the only one who can’t use the app.

Decided that walking home from the gym is my cool-down - it’s just under 1 km, and takes about 15 minutes, depending on how much I’m hurrying.

When I temped in the summers during college, I ate a bagel with strawberry cream cheese every day for lunch. I can’t face strawberry cream cheese ever again. Blergh.

After I graduated from college, I moved to NJ and finally had a proper bagel, but I’ll still eat substandard bagels. (Which could be interpreted that I eat improper bagels. 🙂 )

My good thing? My office at home has always been a dumping spot. After years of having stuff leaning against the wall, I hung up 5 pictures on the wall. There’s stuff on the walls! And hubby’s agreed to hang stuff on the wall in the hallway!

I love dogs, and do agree with your wish that the person who needs help gets it, but you seem to have confused me with another poster. 🙂

I also agree with the suggestion that Monkey needs a tracker tag, @purplehorseshoe. It’s helpful for human peace of mind when the furface goes roaming.

Unless I staple it to his ear like those ID tags on cows, it ain’t happening.

Dude can get out of a safety collar in no time flat, and a while ago when he had go to the vet for an irritated spot on his haunch, we both gave up on the Cone of Shame within a coupla days. Short of choking him with it - and even then, maybe not - he could very quickly get himself free.

Once he even did it in such a spot that The Cone wasn’t immediately visible … coincidence, or deliberately trying to hide the torture device?

It occurred to me during The Night Watch that, should I outlive him & am ever in the future in the market for another kitteh, I may seek out an older, spoiled cat who wants nothing to do with that “outdoors” nonsense.

When Ariel is naughty, I threatened to beat her with a sweat scraper. That’s the giant squeegee. I use on her after she has a bath. I don’t suppose **Monkey** has a sweat scraper or needs a sweat scraper in which case you cannot threaten to beat him with a sweat scraper.

The very teeny piece of good news is that I heard a Texas roadhouse is opening about 20 minutes away. I have heard. **Metal mouse** sing their praises so I look forward to a dinner there. Or maybe a lunch because dinner is too expensive. My friend and I met for our patty melt lunch and it was $23 with tip.

P.S. I have never beat Ariel with the sweat scraper. I have smacked her on the butt with it, but that does not constitute a beating.

I have given him ezzactly one (1) bath since acquiring him.

You know those dangly spiral fly-strip thingies, that are yucky-sticky and catch bugs?

Wanna know what a dangling string hanging from the ceiling looks like to an idiot juvenile boy cat, with more energy than sense?

We came to an agreement: no more fly strips for me, no more emergency baths for you.

I get your point @peedin but, alas, he does not accept logic or reason. A sweat scraper would not register as an authority figure.

Good thing he’s a handsome sweetie.

> Anything teensy but happy in your life?

Well I really didn’t think there was anything. Let me back up to yesterday. Got up at 6:05, showered, watched half of the pairs free dance, fed Bella then put her in her crate, went to mass and lectored. I always go early to read over the readings in the lectionary then since I was also going to read the prayers of the faithful, I read them over and learned … 😢 that the husband of a woman that I was friends with when our kids were babies and on into elementary school, passed 😥 last Thursday and his funeral was today. Normally she attends the 8am mass like I do and sits in the section over from me in approximately the same pew (I sit in either the 3rd, 4th or 5th from the front). She wasn’t sitting in her normal spot yesterday and I was thinking that she likely might have been too overcome to come to mass. When I walked up to the ambole (podium from which the readings are proclaimed and the priest gives the homily) to proclaim the epistle, I looked out over the congregation and spotted her in about the 3rd or 4th pew from the back of the church. (Our church seats approximately 1,200 people). So, when I read the prayers of the faithful and got to the one to pray for the recently deceased, I looked right at her and tried to have a comforting look on my face as I read her husband’s name. After the priest, altar servers and I processed out after mass, I went back in to the church, gave her a hug and expressed my condolences. She said that she was glad that I was the one who read D - - - -'s name and felt it was appropriate. She and I were in La Leche League together, we were Hot Lunch Moms together and worked on other school functions together, and she and her husband were in the Married Couples Club with us back in the 80s, and possibly early 90s; then because our daughter changed schools in 5th grade, we sort of went our separate ways; although I would see her from time to time at Kroger and in church.

Fast forward to today. At first I was going to wear a particular outfit but then decided to go to the auxiliary clothesrack and picked out a different blouse and sort of tunic to wear. You may recall that when I went to the Rosary Rally earlier this month, I couldn’t find my rosary anywhere so Hubs gave me one that a charity had sent to him. Anyway, I reached into the pocket of the tunic and lo and behold, there was my rosary case! Yay, so that was a little spot of happiness.

I wore a layer of merino wool under both the tunic and my pants because I first had to go to work this morning and it was colder than one layer of clothing would be sufficient. I had texted my supervisor last night that I would be coming in early to get the transactions from Thursday-Sunday recorded and that I would need to leave between 9:30-9:40. Amazingly, he beat me there and had already prepared deposits and started the Daily Activity Report for 2 of the days. I was able to complete Thurs-Sat before I had to leave. If the blanking software hadn’t screwed up the credit cards settlement for Friday and it took me extra time to figure it out, I probably would have been able to complete it all but Wednesday is another day. Not going in tomorrow as I have a 9:15 followup with the dermatologist to find out what the biopsy revealed.

Made it in plenty of time for the instate. Wife personally invited me to come to the luncheon afterward. I really liked the readings that were chosen, particularly the one from Ecclesiastes that talks about a season for every activity. I enjoyed singing the songs, particularly On Eagle’s Wings.

Afterward I was able to talk to a couple that we knew from Married Couples Club and various other functions at church. They moved away about 10-15 years ago but still come to our church but attend a different mass than I do; although Hubs sees them from time to time as he goes to the 12:30 mass.

Then I went home, took off the merino wool since it had warmed up significantly and was pondering whether I should go to the luncheon. I was leaning no but then I remembered what one of the sons said in his eulogy and it moved me to go.

I didn’t know anyone there except the wife. So, I just went up to a table with a couple open chairs and asked if they would mind if I sat there. They welcomed me and I had delightful luncheon companions. It was held at a Middle Eastern restaurant. I don’t think anyone there was of middle eastern ancestry. I don’t think they knew what the dish of toum was; which is arabic garlic sauce. I think they thought it was mayonnaise. Nope.

The meal was buffet style and was absolutely delicious: fattoush salad, rice with slivered almonds, hommous, toum, warm puffy medium pita bread loaves, chicken tawook, meat kabob, chicken shawarma, sauteed herbed zucchini and carrots. I had a full plate and don’t think I will need much, if any, dinner.

It was a table of 8 and only the gentleman next to me and I took spoonfuls of the toum so there was a lot left. When the servers were clearing the table, I asked if the leftover was going to be thrown out and after she responded yes, I asked if I could have a small container to take some home. She brought me a pretty big container and put about 3/4 of a cup of the toum in it. SCORE! So, that was another little spot of happiness.

I’ve got the same issue with Ms Peach. She’s so muscular that her neck is bigger around than her head.

Ok day at the museum, I had to re-do some wires upside down, left handed, and by feel, cuz I couldn’t get my head in there to see anything. But the damn thing is working now. I think I fixed the leaky bits on one of our water exhibits, we shall see in the morning.

My spot of good news is that the Halloween decoration across the street, which is a cackling witch that they hang up in a tree every year, isn’t cackling. The cackle feature is motion-sensitive, which means that it cackled every time the wind blew. And they left it turned on all night long. It’s directly opposite my bedroom window, so I’d hear this weird scratchy cackling and talking all night long if it was breezy.

So it’s quiet this year - maybe the cackling mechanism finally broke. I hope to hell I’m not jinxing it by typing about it.

Other good news is that it’ll be cool or even chilly all this week. It’s finally feeling like autumn, after little minor heat waves lasting a couple of days each all through October.

The tale about ticks brought to mind a TV programme we watched tonight. This is one of those fly-on-the-wall documentaries about our wonderful ambulance service. They stick cameras on the paramedics and follow them around.

They had a call to a guy who was in quite a panic because he had been savagely attacked by bedbugs while sleeping away from home. He was covered in nasty-looking itchy bites, and the crew were at first concerned that he might be having an allergic reaction. They were both trying hard to keep their distance and to not scratch.

It didn’t take them long to establish that he was okay (apart from the bites) and then, as a favour, took him to a pharmacy to buy some antihistamine. They then had to spend half an hour cleaning their ambulance to make sure they didnt have any unwanted passengers,

Lots of happiness all around. She was probably happy to not hafta waste.

Greyhounds have this as part of their build, though obvs. much skinnier than a pibbull.

No chance that a greyhound collar might fit her?

Perhaps the local crows decided to, uh, fix it?
