Has anyone else seen that the owners of Lizzie Bordens house are going to put a [Starbucks](http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2004/06/21/starbucks_in_lizzies_house/) in the house? I can understand making it a bed and breakfast, but why not just sell your own coffee? ---

I would be more likely to stay someplace that had a Starbucks. The coffee is likely to be better than the average sludge you get most places. Not that Starbucks makes great coffee but is head shoulders above the coffee you can get most place. ---

I hate coffee. It is disgusting. Give me an ice cold Coke 2 in the morning, that’ll perk me up. /as pointless as the rest of this thread ---

There is a Starbucks in the Forbidden City now. I wonder if the one in Lizzie Borden’s house will use condensed milk in the lattes. ---

What the \*(&$ do I have to do to get a Starbucks in my crappy town?! We have _three_ McDonald’s. We have _three_ Dairy Queen’s. (We used to have four.) We have a Hardee’s, a Burger King, a Taco Bell, a Taco Johns, a Pizza Hut, a Dominos, a Quiznos, two Subways, we’re getting an Arby’s and we have _no frickin’ Starbucks_! Gah! [/rant] ---

There is a church, (well, less a church, more Wal-Mart of God) a couple towns over that has a starbucks inside. [This](http://www.jsonline.com/lifestyle/religion/mar01/church11031001.asp) article explains a bit about it. I dunno, were I of their particular denomination, I think I would not want my house of worship to be used as a vehicle for the ubiquitous marketing strategem of starbucks, but that’s just me. ---

Not exactly on topic… but funny anyway… in [Dave Gorman’s](http://www.davegorman.com) book “Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack Adventure” - he tells a story about being in Seattle - in a Starbucks - - and sees another 3 Starbucks from the window of the one he’s in - - all within a few blocks (obviously) He asks one of the people who work there - why there are so many… and the kid gets defensive and says something like… “Dude, there’s such a thing called Choice!” - - then teh guy goes on his lunch break - leaves Starbucks - - and walks down the street - and goes to the other Starbucks… I recommend reading the book… but I like the question… WHY are there so many Starbucks - - we’re quite lucky were I live we don’t have any - - but we do now have a Subway - - and I heard a rumour a Starbucks is coming… ---

The Buck is better than nothing. Before they came along, the only place to have coffee would be a Denny’s, or something like that. I’m not sure if the terminology is till current, but they used to call restaurants like Denny’s and Norm’s and IHOP “coffeeshops”; now they’re usually called “family style” restaurants. Their coffee is not great, but passable. IMO it would help if they gave it to you in a real ceramic cup instead of paper, when you’re having it in. ---

Well, his last apartment was torn down, but you could stay at the Ambassador Hotel at about 19th & Wisconsin. He app[arently carried his first victim out of there in a suitcase. Packed neatly I’m sure. cj, who lived entirely too close to Mr. Dahmer in college (had friends throw him out of a party once)
