# A statistic about firefighters and the WTC

I looked up some numbers at the [National Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial](http://www.usfa.fema.gov/ffmem/), from the PDF report [Firefighter Fatalities in the United States in 2000](http://www.usfa.fema.gov/pdf/usfapubs/ff_fat00.pdf).

About as many firefighters were killed or are still missing at the World Trade Center as died in the line of duty in the last _three years_ in the _entire United States._
