Yay! Not even sure what a referral does, but yay anyway. 😛
Yeah, I don’t know either, but I figured I could put someone in, especially since you (and whoever else around here talks about it) are the reason that I was checking it out. I’m getting some really great earrings and a ring. Yay!

**LiLi** , last time Petercat had to take pills, the vet gave me a bag of [Pill Pockets](http://www.greenies.com/en_US/Products/FelinePillPockets.aspx). He _loved_ them. He would gobble them up so fast, the fact he was getting medicine completely escaped him. That might be the easiest way to pill the Aerin.

Well, my new primary care doctor has figured all of my problems. It’s because I’m fat. If I lost weight, voila, no more problems. Why, I’d even stop being depressed. There aren’t enough  in the world. Because thin people are never depressed, never have high cholesterol and never have liver problems. I was depressed when I was a normal weight and, gasp, I had really high cholesterol. Higher, actually. My liver was defective then, too. While I’m sure my health problems are exacerbated by my weight, it didn’t \*cause \* them.

I talked to my pdoc’s nurse today, and she’s going to figure out something for my sleep medication. Thank goodness she believed me when I told her that Ambien makes me more depressed the next day. She’s going to work on finding something else I can take at night.

Otherwise, today’s been uneventful, since I was in meetings most of the day. I am so glad there are no meetings tomorrow. It’s also jeans day tomorrow.

Stop worrying, I’m here and I’m fine! 😃 And I’m off tomorrow, just because. My boss told me I’m a slacker. I love my boss.

Daughter and I ran errands - got her a second hand footlocker for $10 - yay! Then we went to WalMart and got assorted stuff. After a supper of sloppy joes and chips, the newlyweds and I went to get the last 2 cabinets and the countertop and sink. On the way, I stopped to get gas in the van, and now my check engine light is on. I am not pleased. grrrrrr

Now we’re waiting (still) for Lowe’s to deliver our sheetrock and doors and fans and a bunch of other stuff. Wonder if they’ll make it before dark.

Tomorrow, **FCD** will be off also, and we’re going to mix and pour the concrete to finish the basement floor. So we can start framing this weekend. Yay!

It’s hot - we had to close up and turn on the air. I guess spring is over.

The Boy is making paella. I know you’re all terribly jealous of me right now. 🙂

Though, at the moment, I could be persuaded to trade it for some tin roof sundae. MMmmmmmm.

**LiLi** , I totally concur on the Pill Pockets recommended by **Spaz**. We’ve also had luck rolling up the pills into little balls of wet cat food, as well, though that was mostly with Ariel who will swallow most food-like things in a single whomp (and many non-foodlike things… she is the bane of all things crawly and insecty in this house).

**Shadow** , sorry your doc is a moron. I mean, if weight loss cured depression, I’d be self-healing… see, when my depression gets really bad, I stop eating altogether (when I was first diagnosed, I had lost 15 lbs over a period of 2 month).

[Baby Cheyenne](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a378/VunderBob/cheyenne.jpg), taken April 28th.

VWife bought a few outfits for Cheyenne this week, and we took them over tonight. Mom gave us a couple of shots in return. The poor babe didn’t have any summer duds until we stopped by. ☹

Here’s the story of my most memorable ambulance run to date, for those who never saw the original posting ( **McUne…** )

> [@From VBob's book](#):
>
> **Bob comes out of the closet, sort of… September 2007**
>
> Morning, y’all. Not 5 minutes after I posted last in the old thread about busting my butt at home because the weekend was quiet in the emergency context, there was a page for a 17 year old, (barely) 8 months pregnant girl having abdominal pains.
>
> I was literally getting nekkid at the time to hop in the shower 'cuz I was nice and stanky from working outside, so it was easy to put on the EMT duds and I took off. When I got to the scene, buddy and potential adoptive grandma Sue (she makes the _BEST_ cookies, hence my trying to get her to adopt me as a grandson) was helping the young girl out the door to the ambulance. We got her inside and settled, and the most awkward call of my life to date began.
>
> I have no problem trauma stripping an adult of either gender, and I’ve seen plenty of naughty bits doing CPR and trauma exams. Kids are different, even older teens, and I was way uptight because of her age, but also because I’ve never had to deal with potential childbirth before.
>
> Her britches had to go; I kept busy hanging a sheet over the back door of the ambulance to keep the peepers out. That kept my back to her.
>
> Her contractions were about 3 minutes apart, but were not regular. Some came on time, some were late; a good sign. Even better, she had not lost her mucus plug, nor her water. If we got her to the hospital in time, there was a chance the docs could get her labor stopped.
>
> So off we went. Then the awkward moment came to a head. I had to look under the sheet to check on things. By this time, I came to grips with what I had to do, but the patient had the problem because I was a guy. Deb, the other EMT, said, “Bob is good and a professional. He needs to look.” The real reason was I needed the clinical experience.
>
> “Why can’t you? He’s a guy!”
>
> “He’s not doing it for his jollies. He’s a professional. [pause] Besides, he’s gay.”
>
> I went  , then 😉
>
> “Well, OK. He can look.”
>
> I looked, and saw no crowning or discharges. Let me tell you, there is nothing sexy about looking at mommy parts when there are children involved, either as owner or occupant.
>
> We got her to the OB unit in plenty of time. I still don’t know if she sprouted or not, but in some ways this call was happier than Friday night’s attempted suicide. I hope they got labor stopped so the kid has a little more oven time.
>
> To add insult to injury, there was another fire page right after midnight, for a yet another automated alarm misfire. The second one of the day, and the third in 2 weeks.
>
> Epilogue: I stopped the next day to ask about the young patient. She was having contractions because of dehydration, and had dilated to 2 cm. The folks at the hospital rehydrated her and stopped the labor, so the girl has another shot at getting her sprout to full term.
>
> Second Epilogue: The Saturday following VWife’s knee surgery, I ran into the girl and her mother at Hooterville Hardware. She was well into her 9th month, and looked like she was carrying a pumpkin. The sprout will be a big one…
>
> Third Epilogue: Little Cheyenne was born on Friday, 7 December, her projected due date. Seven pounds, 12 oz, 20 inches long, and everything in their proper places. Mom and child are doing fine.
… tell your son to watch out for the blue gill-- no one fishes in that quarry so they’re all over the frickin’ place. I was nipped _ **9** _ times by those friggin’ fish. They have no fear of people and are used to being fed. If he brings a can of squirt cheese (like easy cheese), they’ll go nuts for it. It makes things interesting. (I grew up in Bradley, IL, btw.)
I would go get him some, but he does his last 2 dives tomorrow and I’m beat. And tis 9pm here, and I’m off to bed. I haven’t read the rest of the thread as yet.

Let me tell you a funny Bradley story. About 13 years ago, a GF and I wanted to take our kids to the Bradley children’s museum–it was very nice (no idea if it still exists). We got directions from the preschool and off we went. We couldn’t find it, so we stopped and asked directions at a 7-11 type place. The girl gave us a look of utter contempt and said, “But that’s in _Bradley_. You’re in _Bourbonnais_.”
(for those of you who don’t know–Bradley and Bourbonnais are next to each other–I mean as in intermingled. The museum was 2 blocks from this convenience store.

I’s tired and I sense a confrontation (of sorts, I’m not about to mix it up) with Annoying Coworker\*. She charted (legal document and all that) that she had reported off to me and another nurse re this pt’s condition–she hadn’t. I tried to call her at home to get the report, but she didn’t call back. Thing is, I found an error (minor) that involved pharmacy. Now, if I hadn’t caught that error and if it has caused the pt harm and she charted what she charted–MY ass would be in trouble, even though I could truthfully swear I had never received the pt. (the mantra is: if it isn’t charted, it wasn’t done–the corollary is also true: if it was charted, it is presumed to be more factual and accurate than any verbal anything).
 I let my ANM know about that one…
Glad kitty got looked at. stay cool everyone.

\*took the Ethnic out because it’s not her ethnicity that is annoying. It’s HER, plain and simple.
