First, I would like to say that, it really sucks that those whom have posted in this thread, that have been bullied in their lives, had to go through that.
Second, to answer the OP, taxing those certain items (T.V.'s, personal video game systems, and video games themselves) wouldn’t be a horrible idea as long as the “windfall” actually goes toward something worthwhile. But, I’m not sure how “outdoor education” is the most worthwhile. IMHO, it should go towards creating more youth sports programs, and not just for a few, but for all ages and skill levels. Which leads me to my third point… What I believe this is all about is money, money, money. To create more jobs that pay more money. Hopefully the people that would watch over these monies could make sure it gets used for proven programs, not “outdoor education”. Taxes and Fines, Fines and Taxes–it’s only going to get worse. I already work 10 hrs. a day, 6 days a week. But, I don’t paying an extra 1% on the purchase of some video game I might buy. When is enough - enough?
We ALREADY overspend on sports programs in this country. We don’t need a ‘take from the nerds and give to the jocks’ program on top of it.
Aaah, you’ve seen an India/Pakistan game, then?
