We used to have a wild turkey at the barn. She moved in last Thanksgiving. I am not making this up. I have the photographs to prove it. Tommie Girl tried to join the guinea hens’ flock but they chased her away, even though they were maybe a third her size. I told you they were mean. Tommie spent her winter hanging out in the barn with the horses. Well, it was warm, and she got to peck up the grain the horses dropped. In the spring, the turkey made a nest under the hedge by the driveway, and began laying eggs. She laid about a dozen. Turkey eggs are _BIG_. None of them ever hatched, but it wasn’t for lack of trying on her part. Tommie was a _good_ mother hen – brooding for hours over her eggs, leaving the nest just long enough to snatch up some food. And then… One night… Mr. Fox paid Tommie Girl a visit. In the morning, all that was left were a few scattered feathers. RIP, Tommie Girl. We miss you! ---

No, I won’t bring our cats… [Sebastian](http://community.webshots.com/photo/82379483/84829278CxayHL) (the Marmalade Maurader) is out on the back porch with mr. emilyforce, and [Domino](http://community.webshots.com/photo/82379483/84824585SJAAYy) (the Pasha) is off sulking somewhere because we won’t let him eat the kitten’s food. Can our dog [Ben](http://community.webshots.com/photo/84823887/84824013vQQfho) try herding Dudley? He’s s’posed to be a Shetland Sheepdog but it turns out he’s afraid of sheep. BTW, **leechbabe** , cats do not “miss” the litterbox; they _opt not to use it,_ usually in order to make a statement of some kind. ---
