What’s up with dropping many charges against Gates? I’m thinking that’s a reward for his cooperation, which must have yielding a bumper crop of fruit. Perhaps this sends a signal to Manafort, “see what happens to good boys who sing?” Or perhaps what Gates has delivered makes Manafort’s cooperation redundant and there will be no deal with him. It seems to me that they already had Manafort dead to rights, so Gates wasn’t being rewarded for testimony against him- it must have been info on someone in the Donald Family itself. So Hope Hicks says her job was to tell white lies for the administration. I don’t think Mueller buys into the notion of white lies. This whole ship is going to sink. Exciting times ahead! ---

Ryan and McConnell are the ones that will have to either find a conscience or go down with the ship. It would be nice if they could develop the sense of patriotism that Howard Baker and Barry Goldwater found in 1974 but that remains to be seen. ---
