> So I’ve seen theorizing that the resignation is a signal that Mueller is about to be fired, or the ball is about to start rolling?

The Stormy Daniels “60 Minutes” interview is scheduled for this coming Sunday. So a bit earlier that day, either Mueller will be fired or a major violent event will occur—North Koreans shoot down a US flier, or Iranians set off a bomb at a US facility, or a domestic false flag involving Mexicans or Muslems.

A shame, but “60 Minutes” will be pre-empted, that night.

Definitely. Thump will have to create a major distraction.

OTOH, he could decide to live-tweet a commentary _during_ the show. That could be quite amusing.

I don’t know. Trump’s fan base thinks that screwing a porn actress while your wife is suckling her firstborn son is an admirable thing to do.

Breitbart commenters have been calling the Short Fingered Vulgarian a “Man’s Man!!!” for a couple of weeks now.

The only reason Trump will want to create a distraction is if he knows Stormy will out him for having a tiny wiener.

Rod Rosenstein and various law enforcement officials are holding a press conference tomorrow at 10am EST related to cyber crimes.

I assume more news about the Russia investigation, but it may be unrelated. Today it was leaked that Guccifer 2.0 forgot to use a VPN once and now the US knows he was a Russian military intelligence officer.

Wasn’t Roger Stone in contact with Guccifer? If so, then there’s the direct link between the campaign and Russian intelligence.

Oops!

Yes, but he can claim that he didn’t know Guccifer 2.0 was Russian. Not that I believe him.

IIRC, Stone left the campaign after only two months. Before the admitted contact with Guccifer2.0.

> [@](#):
>
> When a Russian news agency reached out to George Papadopoulos to request an interview shortly before the 2016 election, the young adviser to then-
> candidate Donald Trump made sure to seek approval from campaign headquarters.
>
> **“You should do it,” deputy communications director Bryan Lanza urged Papadopoulos in a September 2016 email, emphasizing the benefits of a U.S. “partnership with Russia.”**
>
> The exchange was a sign that Papadopoulos — who pushed the Trump operation to meet with Russian officials — had the campaign’s blessing for some of his foreign outreach.
>
> Since Papadopoulos pleaded guilty last year to lying to the FBI about his Russia contacts during the campaign and agreed to cooperate with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, Trump officials have sought to paint the 30-year-old energy consultant as a low-level volunteer whose outreach to Russia was not authorized by the campaign — and in some cases was actively discouraged.
>
> Emails described to The Washington Post, which are among thousands of documents turned over to investigators examining Russian interference in the 2016 campaign, show Papadopoulos had more extensive contact with key Trump campaign and presidential transition officials than has been publicly acknowledged.
>
> **Among those who communicated with Papadopoulos were senior campaign figures such as strategist Stephen K. Bannon and adviser Michael Flynn, who corresponded with him about his efforts to broker ties between Trump and top foreign officials, the emails show.**
>
> As late as December 2016, as President-elect Trump was preparing to take office, Papadopoulos tried to serve as a conduit for the defense minister of Greece, transmitting what he said was a proposal for a strategic alliance from the Russian-allied Greek official that was reviewed by Bannon and Flynn, then in line to be national security adviser.

> As the Russia investigation enters a crucial stage, President Trump is left without a veteran defense attorney at his side after two lawyers who were just hired to represent him dropped off on Sunday.

Trump’s defense team currently consists of Ty Cobb, Jay Sekulow, Fox News, the craven venality of the Republican Party, and the tribalism of the American people. I’d like to be confident that the careful professionalism of Team Mueller will win in the end, but I’m a little short on hope these days.
