An unnamed “GOP operative close to the White House” says Trump is “losing his shit”. Trump is increasingly isolated in the White House and looks to Fox News personalities like Hannity, Pirro, and Dobbs for guidance. I really really hope he doesn’t fire Mueller. But if he does, I can only hope that it would be like fighting an asteroid heading for earth by nuking it, only succeeding in turning the asteroid into countless smaller, but still planet-killing rocks. The Daniels case can still go forward separate from the Mueller investigation; there are possible state cases, which Mueller has hopefully fed with information; the feds looking at Cohen’s documents may turn up information that spawns new cases; the scattered members of the Mueller team will have a hard time finding enough unused parking garages in which to meet reporters; and so on. ---

Ignorance follows: Ok, so even if Trump fires Mueller, and congressional Republicans do nothing, wouldn’t the investigation just fall to the next in command? Or otherwise be taken up by someone else? Is it really that fragile that if Mueller is removed from the equation the investigation just stops? I mean, if that’s true he’s bound to fire Mueller. ---
