I’ve just been watching analysis of this story. It does seem as if Sessions’ threat was enough to back Trump off the actual firing. For now. As much as I loathe Sessions, it’s refreshing to see at least _one_ cabinet member (sort of) stand up to the dipshit in the Oval.

I think Giuliani is just the latest comfort goat. Surely Rudy knows he can’t negotiate the end of the Mueller investigation. On the bright side, it buys Mueller a couple more weeks as they go through the kabuki dance.

Still, it could all come to a blow-up fairly soon. I think Trump will eventually cave in to his impulsive nature and fire Rosenstein. But if Sessions quits on top of a Rosenstein firing, I don’t think Trump can slide anyone new into the slot who would limit Mueller’s investigation. Pruitt is ruined, despite the fact that he’s still hanging on by his fingernails. Who’s left in the cabinet who would be willing to destroy (what’s left of) his/her own personal credibility to put their weight on Mueller? Maybe Rick Perry? What’s his incentive?

Anyway, interesting to learn about Sessions’ finally picking a hill to (sort of) die on.

Since Trump would love that, I’m not sure what Sessions is thinking here. Because it sure isn’t that he has some sort of integrity.

I was reading something today that was saying Giuliani is just feeling things out to see if he is in any trouble. He could be told that he can’t represent Trump because he is a subject of the investigation himself.

And Perry can’t move into the Attorney General spot since he’s not an attorney. Who else in the cabinet is?

Yeah, I wondered about that as well. He was way, way too close to Team Trump during the campaign, and he knew too much when he shouldn’t have known it.

Wasn’t sure about Perry’s status as an attorney. Pruitt was Trump’s great hope, but he’s blown himself up. Will be lucky to stay in the job he currently has.

Alex Acosta, Secretary of Labor, fits the bill. But he’s a McGahn guy so may not be willing.

Also Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen. She’s probably Trump’s best bet if Sessions flees the circus.

GQ question: one has to be a member of the bar to become AG?

edited to add I should have googled first: [Does the attorney general of the US have to be an attorney? - Answers](http://www.answers.com/Q/Does_the_attorney_general_have_to_be_a_lawyer)
The answer is Nope

Its a Move. Different from a “move” in that it is bold and dramatic! Il Douche is the kind of man who believes the myth of born leaders who make bold and decisive moves that other men are to small to perform. Lesser people are stunned and amazed, his enemies reel away in confusion and disarray. A single, perfect white dove descends from the sky, and shits on his head.

I didn’t know that. Looking back to 1900, all of them have been attorneys. But I can see Trump nominating someone who isn’t since experience and knowledge of the job are not qualifications for his picks. So it could be Rick Perry!

That’s probably the best of the current options–it doesn’t quite convey the same message as an Eye Roll, but it’s in the ballpark.
