The only testimony you need in such a case is that of impartial persons who can authenticate the documents. Manafort’s attorneys’ underlying foundation for their motion to dismiss is a little convoluted, as you might expect. You can see how this issue might be taken up on appeal to test whether Judge Berman Jackson’s ruling was a correct interpretation of the law. (I think it was.) ---

Am I being too pessimistic to think that the results of Mueller’s investigation may well turn out to be unprecedented in American history, but will make no real difference for this administration, this Congress, and the current state of the Republican party? I’ve really been feeling lately that I just won’t be able to withstand and outlast the unceasing onslaught of _wrongness_. ---
