My official prediction (somewhat like Sage Rat’s): the reason there are no further indictments from Mueller is because everything he found was either (a) referred to other jurisdictions; (b) implicates Trump, but Mueller stayed within the Justice Dept guidelines and declined to indict him; or © is extremely shady (like, the Moscow deal) but wasn’t necessarily criminal.

That kind of honestly would be SO refreshing!

> War with North Korea just got a lot more likely. Trump knows the rule of law is after him, so he will use whatever power he has at his disposal to reverse the advantage. He will attempt (and may succeed at) the establishment of a Security State. War and national emergencies almost always result in an increase in executive power and a loss of civil liberties. And this Congress will not oppose him in doing so. Trump needs an emergency, a rason d’etre: North Korea might be it.

Little did you know this prediction already had come true at the time it was posted. This happened when Trump unsuccessfully pushed to go to war with Venezuela for oil. 😛

Hooboy, if we knew that to be the case, it would be pretty damning, no?

I’ll say! And what if, in addition to those damning pieces of evidence, the report contained evidence that the candidate intervened in the creation of the RNC platform, to make it more pro-Putin! And what if it offered proof that the now-President dictated to his son a completely fake cover-story about a meeting with Russians, a meeting that had been prefaced with emails stating that the sensitive information that would be offered at the meeting was

I mean, how could the American people look at all that evidence and conclude that there was ‘no big deal’ and ‘nothing to see here’…right?

Man, that would be something, if all that happened.

Yes, depressingly, this can be added to the list of things he’s done and skated on.

Maybe someday he’ll be so bored he’ll ask for a gun and head out to Fifth Avenue to test the results of acting on his infamous remark.

If there were enough footage of of him doing so, maybe that would lose him six or eight supporters.

Maybe there were no indictments because collusion was determined to not be a crime? Why has not Trump not yet tweeted about how he was vindicated? Why were Trump and the Republicans so worried about what was in the report if there was nothing to be found? Gillenbrand (don’t know what I think of her, haven’t thought about her much) already has a Facebook page up asking for petitions to demand the report be made public. Has the AG even hinted that it would not be?

Part of the problem is that Republican “leadership” keeps moving the goalposts. How many times since Trump became President have we heard them declare where they will draw the line with his behavior, then when he leaps over that line like Bob Beamon in Mexico City, they decide that behavior us OK, but _this_ is where we draw the line… lather rinse repeat.

Well, [yes](https://www.npr.org/2019/03/22/706016316/read-attorney-general-barrs-letter-on-mueller-report), regarding your last question:

I remain committed to as much transparency as possible, and I will keep you informed as to the status of my review.

(shrug) You used the term “hint”; for me the quoted bit from Barr’s letter was a hint.

In any event, I have no particular problem with someone staking out a clear position that the contents of the report be made public, even if we assume Barr eventually will do so.

I’m going to be a contrarian and say that I disagree with declaring beforehand that the whole thing should be released. I want the Democratic leadership to see the whole thing, but if it contains information about intel sources, well, we don’t want to endanger the lives of people who are risking themselves to get information to the American government. If Donald Trump or William Barr say there are things we shouldn’t see, fuck that. But, if Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer say there are things that we shouldn’t see, okay. I trust them on this.
