It’s time to get back to the important business of the country: Finding out what really happened at Benghazi.

That’s old news stuff. The real story is how the radical lefties and hippies took over the FBI and Justice. Really pissed that I didn’t get the memo.

Yeah, I believe there were more hearings on Benghazi than 9/11 in what by the end was a blatant effort to smear Hillary Clinton.

Now we have a president who’s a Russian tool and almost certainly an actual criminal (at the very least the DOJ alumni letter yesterday indicates the only reason Trump’s not under indictment is because of his office, and who knows yet about tax fraud and money laundering) and the Republicans are like “Nothing to see here”.

Trump at least is incompetent and going senile; McConnell knows exactly what he wants and how to get it done.

Presumably one of the “breathless conspiracy theories” McConnell is referring to has to do with the [recent investment in Kentucky of a brand new Russian aluminum plant tied to Oleg Deripaska](https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a27259438/oleg-deripaska-kentucky-aluminum-mitch-mcconnell-rand-paul/).

Yeah; I think I actually loathe McConnell more than Trump. Trump is just a stupid but crafty grifter, with no goals beyond self-aggrandizement. McConnell is an evil motherfucker who gladly pisses on the Constitution to further his agenda. The fact that both wound up in Washington at the same time is a horrifying calamity.

I think of him in The Great Escape (he gets shot on the train platform); The Man From U.N.C.L.E\*; and then a 50 year vacation before resurfacing again.

\*United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. And for some reason that’s still in my memory…which means it’s taking up space that could be used for something useful.

[McConnell is using the Mueller report to blame Obama for Russian meddling](https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/5/7/18535373/mcconnell-mueller-report-speech-obama-russian-interference)

_The height of shamelessness._

> [@](#):
>
> Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s speech on the Senate floor on Tuesday celebrating the end of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference amounted to a stunning display of shamelessness.
>
> As part of Republicans’ broader effort to turn the page on the Mueller investigation as quickly as possible and portray Democrats who are unwilling to do as just out to get President Donald Trump, McConnell tried to shift blame onto the previous president. But in so doing, he completely absolved Trump — not to mention himself — from any share of responsibility.
>
> McConnell, who arguably did more than anyone to prevent the Obama administration from providing a bipartisan warning about Russia’s interference efforts in the months before the 2016 election, mocked Democrats for “abruptly awakening to the dangers of Russian aggression.”
>
> “Maybe stronger leadership would have left the Kremlin less emboldened,” McConnell said, referring to Obama. “Maybe tampering with our democracy wouldn’t have seemed so very tempting.”
>
> …
>
> **McConnell prevented the federal government from warning the public about what Russia was up to in 2016**
>
> As the American intelligence community gathered evidence through the summer of 2016 that Russia was responsible for the hacks of Democratic targets that resulted in the WikiLeaks dumps, President Barack Obama’s administration briefed congressional leaders and sought to put out a bipartisan statement sounding the alarm about the Kremlin’s efforts.
>
> But according to the Washington Post’s blockbuster 2017 report about how the Obama administration tried to handle the Russian effort, McConnell scuttled the White House’s plans, citing “skepticism that the underlying intelligence truly supported the White House’s claims” and concerns the administration was just playing partisan politics.

Obama’s fault! I knew it!

“Maybe stronger leadership would have left the Kremlin less emboldened,”

As opposed to now, when Putin is totally not emboldened. Oh, wait, Putin actually tells Trump what to say.

But he’s exactly correct. Had there been stronger leadership, there might have been an opportunity to blunt some of the Russian efforts. The fact that the Senate Majority leader did not provide that leadership in the Senate hamstrung US government efforts.

Now, let’s see…who was the Senate Majority leader in 2016?
