I am always amazed when Republicans get caught on open mikes, or get caught by leaks from meetings like this. Helpful hint to Republicans: assume everything you say will be leaked. When you go into a TV studio, know that most of the peopke innthe room right down to the audio and video techs have it out for you and WILL leak anything you say that could be damaging. The media covered for FDR, Kennedy, LBJ and Clinton. Call it Liberal Privilege. Republicans do not get that courtesy, and need to be more vigilant. ---

Opinion without supporting facts is just another prejudice. What we can do is arm ourselves with facts to use the next time some … person we might disagree with\* … claims ‘they are all alike’ or … oh, whatever pretzel logic argument. Trumps popularity has steadily declined, so people do listen. And the media was not particularly kind to LBJ in his time. \*\* I’m not President - can I call them shit-for-brains?\* ---

You know as well as I do that the reason they covered for, say, Johnson wasn’t that he was a Democrat, but that it was 1964 and back then the media covered for a President’s personal improprieties. It goes like this: _“If the media report [X] it means that media outlet is [Y]”_: If X = “something good about a Republican” then Y = “fair, balanced and truthful.” If X = “something good about a Democrat” then Y = “lying, biased purveyors of fake news.” If X = “something bad about a Republican” then Y = “lying, biased purveyors of fake news and a bunch of meany meanheads too.” If X = “something bad about a Democrat” then Y = “bold, reliable truthtellers who should be believed without question.” I think that should clear things up for you, **RickJay**. ---

The media covered for Nixon? Do you mean the drinking and cursing? Because the only restraint they showed on his public bad acts was waiting for some kind of evidence, I believe. ---
